do the WDW resorts offer free refrid's for people with insulin? Or will they store it for you?

They no longer offer free refrigerators in the rooms that don't already have one. Sorry! The will store it for you upon request, or you can rent one.

just writing to confirm what teri wrote. The recent info we have from people who have requested refrigerators for insulin is that there is a $10 per day charge. If you search on the owrd "insulin" you should find another recent thread with suggestions for how to deal with this.

My mom is thinking the same thing - she has one of the little insulated packs that she carries with her during the day - if we put it in a little cooler with ice at night it should be fine.

And CVS is right down the street if need be. I am more worried about it then she is!! :D

Stop worrying. Diabetics go to WDW every day and do fine. Carry some quick sugar just in case. Should do that anyway even if you aren't in Disney,
As to refrigerating the insulin, it is not necessary. The vials in use can be left on the bedside table for a month without refrigeration. Do it all the time. The rooms are cool enough that there is no problem. If she uses Humalog then use a cooler pack. But N, R, L, SL, ect do not need refrigeration except before you open the vial.
If she is carrying it to the parks then she will need a small cooler pack to keep it cool. FRIO makes a nice one that works on evaporation. You ca find their site on the internet.

 I second the glucose tablets[walgreens has some in a hard plastic tube] that you can carry on your person.

WDW can be hard on a Diabetic if they don't take extra care,to stay hydrated, eat meals and snacks AND Balance the Extra Exercise against their insulin.

One hint I got after a bad low blood sugar crisis,is to carry a card with instructions in case of problems,it will help family members,to know how best to help the diabetic!!

And one more tip! Celebration Hospital[$190.] is Slower and more costly and didn't make the correct treatment.

Sand Lake Hospital[$84. for the same Acute Ear Infection!!]was quick and affective with the proper treatment!!

Quick sugar does not have to be glucose tablets. I carry some tubes if icing gel (the kind you write with) and some hard candy such as life savers. Can't stand the glucose tablets.
Also a juice pack or 2 as a fast liquid source of sugar.
