Reformatting a pc

I want to wipe my moms computer as it is SO slow and we've decided to give it to my grandad as his is ancient.

We don't have the original windows cd as it didn't come with the pc, is there a way of deleting all the stuff off it appart from windows??? Thanks

Hi Emily,

I've just checked with my PC Guru Brother and he's telling reformatting a PC removes everything from the computer, even Windows.

He said the only way you'd keep Windows on there is to sit and delete everything individually. Which could take quite a long time and may not be completely sucessful in the end.

sounds like you need to clear all the clutter on it so it will run faster, probably needs a defrag.

step 1. Unplug machine
Step 2. take machine outside, and place on hard surface.
Step 3. Retrieve sledge hammer or other heavy object
Step 4. Return to machine, and cause your hammer or heavy object to impact upon said machine.
Step 5. If you have difficulty, call India call center to obtain advise as to how to impact heavy object on said machine
Step 6. Return to machine and continue with impact. If unsure of sufficiency of impact, please call India for additional assistance.
Step 7. Proceed to vehicle, and drive to Best Buy, Wal Mart, or suitable alternative.
Step 8. Purchase new machine, for less money than it would take to reformulate PC
Step 9. Attempt to set up machine.
Step 10. Call India, and request your now best bud, and seek advise as to how to set up machine
Step 11. Make sure Grandad has filtering software, so he does not have a heart attack while looking at pictures on the internet.
Step 12. Receive call from India call center friend regarding his coming to your town, and wishes to stay for a month.[.............

Fortunatly my Grandad already has a pc so wont come across any surprises. We don't really want to buy a new pc as this one is simple enough for surfing etc just needs clearing.

I've cleared the machine as best as possible as it is running faster, so will just make sure if he ever gives it away that we have the harddrive so our personal details are removed.

You could try and download a copy of "CCleaner". It's free and will allow you to clean out all the unwanted temp files etc.
