Well werent we lucky with the weather?!
My ruse to trick fate by taking two coats each and wellies, none of which were needed, and leave the sunhats at home worked. Obviously, I then had to buy new T-shirts and the bit of rain on Friday simply justified my 20th anniversary umbrella purchase.
We stayed at the NBC hotel again and we were initially disappointed with our room it is perhaps not a good idea to downgrade and last time we were Admirals Floor, lake view. This time we had no view to speak of as we looked straight onto the back of the health suite, however we soon realised that with watching Dreams every night we didn't really need a view and we also appreciated the very quiet location of the room. The added bonus was that as we were on floor 2 (same as reception) we didnt have to endure the scrum for the lifts at peak times.
Breakfast was good and civilised each morning as soon as we were greeted we were whisked away by very friendly cast members and seated immediately as we had our obviously disabled son with us. We picked up a "breakfast in the park" voucher on arrival for one day but never used it as with watching Dreams we were rising late each morning and we found it more convenient to eat at the hotel. The restaurant in the park offered was the Chalet de la Marionette and I think the NBC breakfast is better anyway.
Dreams very disappointing. Only joking!!!
I dont have enough superlatives for this, it is just incredible and I dont think I will ever tire of watching it. DS who can hardly talk calls it pop bang and looks forward to it all day every day. Unless you have a lot more stamina than we do, dont even think of doing EMH and Dreams every day though!
We had a few unusual occurrences: the parade on Monday evening was held up for over ten minutes by poor Mr Smee fainting. We didnt realise why at the time as we were right by the exit gate for the parade on Main Street and so we had the first float by us. They couldnt split the parade by letting any of it leave so the music continued and the characters kept up their dance routines and played with the crowd heroically. Cinderella's Fairy Godmother was lovely. On another day we had to exit IASW back through the boats and out of the entrance as there was a large swarm of bees between the exits of IASW and the Princess Pavilion. Im allergic to bees so was glad of the precaution to shut the ride down. Finally on our last ride on BTM late on Thursday night DS and I rode in the same cart as Paris Hilton and her boyfriend, although being totally un celebrity-minded, I had no idea who she was until I was told afterwards.
Our one mistake was to try and eat at a restaurant in Val dEurope one day. Nothing at all wrong with the restaurant or meal but DS does not like anything different and certainly was not happy to be taken away from his precious Disneyland so he went into his blanking mode and refused to eat a mouthful. It was a little sad as it was meant to be DDs birthday treat and we had wanted to do something new. Will have to remember to stick to Disney restaurants although I remember the first time we ate at the Agrabah and DS refused to eat there, now it is his favourite. The joys of a child with autistic traits!
I thought the park looked lovely, not just the condition of the structural things but all the gardens and parklands. I am happy just wandering around enjoying the natural beauty and colourful planting.
A lovely enjoyable trip.
