Well weren’t we lucky with the weather?! :) My ruse to trick fate by taking two coats each and wellies, none of which were needed, and leave the sunhats at home worked. Obviously, I then had to buy new T-shirts and the bit of rain on Friday simply justified my 20th anniversary umbrella purchase. :rotfl:

We stayed at the NBC hotel again and we were initially disappointed with our room – it is perhaps not a good idea to downgrade and last time we were Admiral’s Floor, lake view. This time we had no view to speak of as we looked straight onto the back of the health suite, however we soon realised that with watching Dreams every night we didn't really need a view and we also appreciated the very quiet location of the room. The added bonus was that as we were on floor 2 (same as reception) we didn’t have to endure the scrum for the lifts at peak times.

Breakfast was good and civilised – each morning as soon as we were greeted we were whisked away by very friendly cast members and seated immediately as we had our obviously disabled son with us. We picked up a "breakfast in the park" voucher on arrival for one day but never used it as with watching Dreams we were rising late each morning and we found it more convenient to eat at the hotel. The restaurant in the park offered was the Chalet de la Marionette and I think the NBC breakfast is better anyway.

Dreams – very disappointing. Only joking!!! :rotfl2: I don’t have enough superlatives for this, it is just incredible and I don’t think I will ever tire of watching it. DS who can hardly talk calls it “pop bang” and looks forward to it all day every day. Unless you have a lot more stamina than we do, don’t even think of doing EMH and Dreams every day though!

We had a few unusual occurrences: the parade on Monday evening was held up for over ten minutes by poor Mr Smee fainting. We didn’t realise why at the time as we were right by the exit gate for the parade on Main Street and so we had the first float by us. They couldn’t split the parade by letting any of it leave so the music continued and the characters kept up their dance routines and played with the crowd heroically. Cinderella's Fairy Godmother was lovely. On another day we had to exit IASW back through the boats and out of the entrance as there was a large swarm of bees between the exits of IASW and the Princess Pavilion. I’m allergic to bees so was glad of the precaution to shut the ride down. Finally on our last ride on BTM late on Thursday night DS and I rode in the same cart as Paris Hilton and her boyfriend, although being totally un celebrity-minded, I had no idea who she was until I was told afterwards. :rolleyes2

Our one mistake was to try and eat at a restaurant in Val d’Europe one day. Nothing at all wrong with the restaurant or meal but DS does not like anything different and certainly was not happy to be taken away from his precious Disneyland so he went into his blanking mode and refused to eat a mouthful. It was a little sad as it was meant to be DD’s birthday treat and we had wanted to do something new. Will have to remember to stick to Disney restaurants although I remember the first time we ate at the Agrabah and DS refused to eat there, now it is his favourite. The joys of a child with autistic traits!

I thought the park looked lovely, not just the condition of the structural things but all the gardens and parklands. I am happy just wandering around enjoying the natural beauty and colourful planting.

A lovely enjoyable trip. :goodvibes

Sounds like a really great trip :goodvibes I don't think anyone who has seen it has anything bad to say about dreams, I can't wait to be able to see it for myself. :goodvibes

We came back on Thursday and I agree completely with you about Dreams pixiedust: It was spectacular :goodvibes I also agree you just can't do Dreams and EMH - it's just too much.

Glad you had such a good trip and enjoyed the look of the park. We did too.

Welcome back :)

Thank you and welcome back too. I did think of you sometimes as we were walking about and wondered if our paths ever crossed! :wave2: Glad you had a great time too. :)

I'm loving all these positive trip reports from this past week :goodvibes - another huge success by the sounds of things :thumbsup2.

Welcome back! :goodvibes

So pleased to hear you had a great trip!! pixiedust:

Great news about the trip - sounds like you had a great time! :goodvibes

Liked the bit about having to buy the umbrella :rotfl2:!

Ha ha about Paris Hilton - I think it does so called 'celebs' good not to be recognised now and again - keeps their feet on the ground :lmao:.

I too am wondering how we'll cope with EMH and Dreams. The thing is, as all the hotels are pretty much sold out for when we go, I think it is going to be busy so EMH will be a must do - but then what about Dreams?! I think we'll have to plan later and early rises depending on late or early night the night before.

Did you try having afternoon naps at all? That is the other option for us but I'm not sure how it will work in practice. If we do manage to get the girls off to sleep (minor miracle!) then I'm wondering if we'll all be really groggy afterwards and take an age to get ourselves sorted to get back out again! :confused3

Anyway, so pleased you had a good trip apart from the restaurant incident - and poor Mr Smee too - bless him! :rolleyes2

Yes, we returned to the hotel every afternoon for a rest. DS and I then returned to the parks on our own while DH slept until joining us again for Dreams. I couldn't sleep at all during the day and like you would worry about feeling groggy afterwards. You may find your DDs fall asleep in spite of themselves. DS literally fell asleep on his feet one afternoon whilst standing at the foot of the bed. He just fell straight onto the bed and stayed there with his legs hanging over the edge. It was like something out of a cartoon! I did move him into a more comfortable position then left him to wake naturally later on. We still saw Dreams but missed the parade that evening.

We found that we got to the park between 10 and 11 each day and even then that is over 12 hours before returning after Dreams so I think an afternoon break at least if not an actual sleep is beneficial. In fact it is one of the things I am worried about next month when we are staying off-site.

Anyway, so pleased you had a good trip apart from the restaurant incident - and poor Mr Smee too - bless him! :rolleyes2

One thing we found was that the evening crowds thinned out so much that it made up for not using EMH and of course all rides (or most) are open then. :goodvibes

Paris Hilton OMG! LOL

I would 't have had a clue who she was but DW would have loved that. She is still telling people about seeing several members of made in chelsea walking down main street on our November trip.

so glad u had a good time :goodvibes

i have no idea what we will do as ds2 is up same time regardless of time to bed!!! i think we will just go with the flow but i NEED to c dreams least twice!!

and cant c naps happening!!! lol

id have no clue on paris hilton either :lmao:

btw - how much was the umbrella as id love one :rotfl2: might get us dry weather ;)

Hi Nikki

I think the umbrella was €40 before discount. It is really beautiful, nice and classically restrained on the outside and just fabulous on the inside where it counts! DS loved walking with me under it pointing to the castle, Mickey and Minnie etc. Did mean we walked into something once not looking where we were going though! :rotfl:
