Refilling Mugs on 2nd visit for a fee

I just returned from a Disney trip and have two refillable mugs. I am going again in June and wish to reuse these same mugs. Does Disney have a policy for PURCHASING refills a second time around without having to buy the mugs again?

*Please no debate on reusing mugs...I am only interested in paying for the refills without having to buy another mug.

I don't believe so. It would make sense though for them to offer it to repeat visitors. I already have a bunch of mugs, and wouldn't mine paying a reduced rate to save some money, since I really don't need a new one.

You'd think that would be cheaper for Disney too, since the mugs must cost them more money then the soda does.

I don't recall every seeing anything about paying for a second trip use. I don't think they'd even have a way to track if some has paid to reuse or if they're just getting away with it. Sorry!

That is very interesting... Please let us know when you return from your next trip! We're staying at FQ in September and I'd love to bring back our mugs (from Sept 09)for a fee if that's the case. Love the mugs but, I have soooo many!

I don't collect the mugs, so if I'm told there isn't a program for 2nd time visits I may just pay the $12 and reuse the ones I have.

hmm if that's the case..I'm going to buy a mug the next time I stay at one of the resorts. I didn't want to keep buying new mugs every time i went so I never purchased..I wish they would charge like $25 so you can use at the Theme Parks!!!! but we'll probably wipe them clean.

That's an interesting statement on the Port Orleans site. It's certainly something that I've never heard of and that Disney doesn't publicly advertise. In fact the mugs have the length of stay printed clearly on them.

I'll be interested to hear what your experience is when you come back. If they let you pay for it, make sure to hold onto your receipt. I'd love to see how they charged that out. (and how much it costs)


Just another note - as the OP requested. Please don't turn this into a mug debate or post hints and tricks how to get around Disney's written policy. We've removed a few posts already, and if we continue to have to remove posts we'll close this thread (like so many other refillable mug threads before this one) Thanks for understanding.

I have also never heard of paying to re-use the resort mugs. However you do this for the ones in the waterparks and at AK: purchase a new barcode for the next day (waterparks) or pay a nominal amount to have it filled (AK).

Do you think some confusion may have crept in there perhaps?

I would love if they did that as well. I spend a small fortune every trip on drinks in the parks. It would really save me quite a bit.

I like what Universal does you buy a sports style bottle for about $7 (a couple years ago) and you could pay to refill for less than $1.50. What was also great is the bottle was about 32oz size.

I hope it's true too.
I hate waste. It seems to me that at least part of the price is paying for the cup itself. A discounted price for refills only would be economically as well as ecologically sound.
But as I said before I still would rather pay the $12 and reuse the old cup than get a new one.

Busch Gardens does the same thing. You can buy a big sports bottle and get it filled really cheap. I think with our annual pass its about $1.00.

I like what Universal does you buy a sports style bottle for about $7 (a couple years ago) and you could pay to refill for less than $1.50. What was also great is the bottle was about 32oz size.

You think they would offer to reuse mugs for a price since Disney is supposed to be all in to recycling and stuff. I would pay to reuse our mugs. I don't need 12 of the same mugs in year.

every holiday i always go home with loads of cups and never really use them, i was thinking the other day of throwing them away.

I would love this idea as well. There is no need for us to buy another set of identical mugs since we were just there in October. My guess is that we will just use our second set as our work mugs.

I triple checked the resort mug that I got in January and it is printed right on the mug that it's for the length of stay.

I had never noticed it before because the print is really tiny but on last years mugs (Celebrate Today!) it says

Refills available an no additional charge at Resort Beverage Islands located at the resort that this mug was purchased through the end of your resort stay.

I just emailed Disney to ask; even if they say "no", maybe it'll plant a seed.
