Do people regularly bring their previous mugs back to the resorts the next year? I know I can do this with my water park mug (just purchase a new sticker), but what about the resorts? Wondering if it is worth packing them also?

Thank You...:)

we always buy the new ones each year instead of using the same ones. but i never have found that out for myself.

I've seen people walk into the food court and fill up their 5 year old mug from a totally different resort. I think you'll be fine if you bring your old one.

IMO, using a mug from previous years is like stealing. Would you bring back a cup from McDonald's and use it again? Probably not. You are paying for the "license" to refill your mug as often as you like, not necessarily for the mug, even though I'm sure it is included in the price. If I saw someone using a mug from previous years after I just paid money for my new mug, I might be a little agitated that not everyone is using common courtesy and following the same rules. The $12.99 is worth the price of the mugs and unlimited refills.

Maybe in the same year if I actually remember to do so, but 5 years ago? Heck I doubt that piece of plastic would survive in my house for more than 6 months. In fact my daughter has a nice sun flower growing out of one in her bedroom.

What about if you use the mugs for something like water or ice? I don't drink soda nor coffee anymore but have mugs from before and like the fact that they are insulated and planned on bringing them with us.

How about if the mugs are from that year? We have been lucky enough to go a couple of times in the same year?

I think it might depend on when you bought your mug. For the past two years, the mugs have been for the current visit only. I've heard that there are older mugs that were life-time refills, but I don't have one of those. I've got 2 from this year, so far and expect to have a matching set of 4 by the end of the year.

It's printed on the mugs that they are for use only during the trip on which they were purchased, only at the resort at which you are staying. You can find this statement printed in teeny weeny writing under the handle of the mug (no wonder so many people don't know this!). Once upon a time the mugs were good for lifetime, but those days are long gone.

In my experience, I think you see as many "old" mugs in use as you will see "current" ones. The designs are all the same now (they used to be resort-specific), and they change them every couple of years. I don't know what happens if they "catch" you using an old mug, as I've never, in 22 trips, seen a CM prevent someone from filling a mug, ANY mug (including non-disney), with soda.
:surfweb:popcorn:::rolleyes1

100% agree.

On our April trip a cast member stopped 2 people trying to fill old mugs~

On two different mornings this past Oct I saw the CM at Cafe Rix at CSR stop people from using old mugs. That is the first time I ever saw it though. Maybe their starting to tighten up on the abuse.

Exactly my thoughts on the subject.

I never got an answer about this, and am still curious.

If you are just wanting water and ice, why don't you bring a reusable water bottle? They hold more than the refillable mugs, and people won't suspect that you are trying to "break the rules".

We have water bottles as well but the kids really want to use our old mugs as well.

Use a sports bottle or buy new mugs & explain to your kids why your old mugs are staying home.

Have a case of water delivered to your resort so you can leave everyday with a new bottle.

what do this years mugs look like?
i might have them... are they the red ones with characters on them?
