Refillable Mugs without handles!?!

I just read on another Disney site that the old refillable mugs are being phased out and the new ones do not have handles! I am so disappointed. We used the refillable mugs price as a major factor when we decided to purchase the DDP and with multiple cups it is so easy to hook the candle to a hook on the backpack. It is going to be difficult and much less convenient if they all have no handles. Has anyone received a mug with handles lately. We will be staying at Kidani if the resorts differ any.

the pictures are out there, no handles. if the full transition hasn't occurred, it is on its way

We just got home 2 days ago. Only the no handle mugs at POLY and CR. My daughter said no handles at ASMO too. When we got there on the first there were no handled mugs to be found, so I doubt by now there are any left anywhere.

I did hear they were bringing the handles back? How is that going?
Sounds like not well...
This makes me sad....
I like the handles

I did not hear there would a return of the handles! interesting! my mugs at home have no handles, they fit great in my car and no issues. However, at Disney, so many carry multiple (thinking Dad bfast run!), or clip to their backpacks etc. it I can see it as a huge takeaway

Does anyone know if the handles for a tervis tumbler for example will fit the WDW tumblers I mean mugs?

Very disappointed in this, for the same reason others have said. I like to be able to grab a bunch of mugs and carry them all at once. That will be next to impossible to do without the handles.

Our next trip isn't until next year. Hopefully, there will have been enough negative reaction that they'll have brought the handles back by then.

That's a thought I never considered! Where was the possibly of the handles being reintroduced at? I can see people using their mugs a lot less since it will be so difficult to carry multiple mugs and the mugs without handles being cheaper for Disney to purchase but I can also see most families not purchasing the mugs anymore unless they already come with the DDP!

We spent a week at BC last week and all mugs had no handles. I happened to be in the Marketplace more than once when they were restocking them, so I kept looking to see if any with the handles showed up. I still wish they'd offer both. We really didn't mind not having handles, but I get that it is easier for people to fill up and hold multiple mugs at once.

Yes, it was a real pain to make a drink run for 4 people last month. Had to use a plastic Disney bag to hold them and try to keep them upright.

What are the colors? Same as the ones with handles? Red, blue, green, purple, red (I think)?

Can we just pay for the duration we are there and use our old cups with handle? If so, does anyone know how much it is? Is it cheaper if we bring our old cups or is it the same price?

I'm sure I read only recently that Disney are reconsidering bringing the handles back due to the amount of disgruntled reaction to the handless ones..

No

We were at Pop Century a couple of weeks ago and I was actually happy to see that the mug had no handles. It was much easier for the mug to fit into the pocket of my backpack without the handle. I don't need to see the handle come back.

Do you remember if you saw purple mug at Pop? When I was there in April, I got lime green and regret not getting purple. I'm not on dining plan so I'm thinking of buying one if they have purple mug.

Yes.

No it isn't cheaper. But yes, you can bring your old mugs and have them activated. That is unless you have put them in the dishwasher and ruined the chip. It is the same price as a new mug.

Another idea is to bring a cup carrier or tray that will carry all of your mugs.

Or, of course, simply have more people carry their own mug.

We are at CSR a few weeks ago and no handles. Personally, I like it better because they can now fit into the cup holder of a car or the cup holder of a backpack.

This is definitely a very minor thing, in the grand scheme of things and I'm sure the change was based on cost savings, both from the cost of the cup itself to the cost of shipping (a lot more cups without handles can fit into a carton than those with handles).

The rumor about the potential return of the mugs with handles started going around sometime around the last week of August or so. I haven't read any reports of them actually appearing at the resorts though.
