I think the refillable mugs are intended for the length of your stay but my son was just asking if we would be able to bring them back on a return visit. At first I said no I didnt think that was the intention but now I am wondering about it and I thought I would throw it out to you guys to see what the etiquette is regarding this and if it is a possibility for the future.

When was your last trip? If the mugs have rapid fill written on them you can bring them back and pay to reactivate them (or at least you should be able to) but if they are not rapid fill mugs then bringing them back will be useless as they won't work on the machines and can't be paid to activate.

Doing either saves no money and takes up luggage space so may not be worth it and is easier to just buy new mugs.

I am here at Aulani now so we are contemplating whether to purchase one or not. I don't think it really matters as will probably get a couple for the convienience but I am just wondering if others have returned with them. You make a good point about luggage space.

Oh darn I didn't see this was the Aulani form! I'm not sure if Aulani uses rapid fill or just mugs. If they use just mugs then technically you have to pay each and every trip. I'm sure others have returned with them but the official policy is you pay for a new mug each time.

I've never heard of this rapid fill. This must be a WDW thing. It's not like that at Aulani. The machines are just like what you would find at 7-11, so really, anything at all works on them. We bring ours back every year and use them, no problem (shhh..don't tell anyone)

I missed that it was the Aulani thread. Rapid Fill are RFID based cups used at Disney World and a few other places. The technology prevents you from being able to bring the cups back trip after trip with out repaying for the service as the machine won't function unless a valid RDID chip sits on the scanner that is under each spout.

Ah! Glad that technology hasn't made it to Aulani yet :)
