:bounce: Hi
We will be splitting our 2 week stay between POR and the POLY (7 and 7) and was wondering if there is any way to use 1 refillable mug for the entire stay? Or do we have to buy another one when we get to the POLY? This doesn't seem fair.....

Where's that duck and cover smiley when you need it?

It is one of the little inconveniences of splitting your stay. Besides, you get 2 souveniers of your stays. :)

lol! you guys.... :lmao:

OP, no it doesnt seem fair. BUT maybe you could save your reciept for the mugs at POR and then ask the CMs at the food court if they would let you use your mugs from the first part of your trip? I know you arent trying to pull one over on disney, and it never hurts to ask. If you decide to do this would you please let us all know if it works?? :sunny:

I wish Disney would come up with a "generic" resort mug that they would sell to those of us who do split stays......we bought mugs at both places last summer. I love the souvenir though so I am not really complaining. Besides, if you do the math many times it probably comes out at a break even or better and you do get to keep the mug. The average coffee or soda will cost $2.00 each time, and I know I had 3-4 refills a day, so once you use your mug 7 times it is essentially paid for.

I find the mug discussion rather tiring.
I have seen threads where people are wondering if they can bring mugs from previous years.
I thing it is an amazing deal considering it is also something that can be used again.
If you use it twice a day on your trip it has paid for it self.
Get a second one if you are switching hotels, or don't switch hotels.
It's 12.00 people, whats that when you are spending a couple grand

No, unfortunately you can't use it at your second resort. I wish it was based on the entire time at Walt Disney World Resorts, plural rather than the entire time at a specific resort but there you go..... we did a split-stay last year and I bought 4 mugs at POFQ. When we got to Wilderness Lodge the boys wanted to buy them there too. I said no at first but then gave in :teeth: I just bought 2 the second time though and myself and DH went without. I swear, I swear neither I nor DH ever took as much as a sip out of our sons WL mugs, honestly :guilty:  :drinking: :teeth:

For our family of 5 (our youngest would want one this year too!) it's 60 dollars. 60 dollars is enough money to make me wish we could use them at our second resort. :)

From what Ive read on other mug threads, some ppl bring 10y old mugs on their trips, and use them again, and again... :rolleyes1 This is wrong IMO, buit I think, in your case, It should be allowed, since its just for the length of your onsite vacation.

If they wont *allow you* try this. Buy 2 or 3 mugs at 1 resort and share, then 2 or 3 at the other :teacher:

Next year, Ill be buying 2to share w/ me, dh and dd 15 :woohoo:

If you can afford 2 weeks onsite, and the last week at POLY at a cost of 300+ $ per night, then you should be able to buy a mug for each member of your party at both resorts!.

I mean 7 days at POR, if its value season, would cost you: 1209$, and 7 days at POLY GV if its value season would cost you: 2458$.

A grand total on resorts only: 3667$. (rack rate incl. tax)

5 mugs at POR (i dont know how many you guys are!): 64$ (incl. tax)
5 mugs at POLY: 64 $

Total for 10 mugs: 128$

This means that you would have to pay a whopping 3.5 % of the amount you pay for your resorts for 2 weeks to get 10 mugs!.

All i can is: :lmao:

When we were at OKW there was a woman in line ahead of us at the snack bar who was very irate because she had just transferred over there from Boardwalk where, she says, the CM told her she could use the mug for the length of her trip. The CM at OKW told her no, each resort has its own mug and she would have to buy another one. She was very irate and the CM ended up giving her one refill for her trouble. But the answer was no, a mug for each resort.

Hi walkermm!

I just wanted to say hello and welcome to the Didboards! :) And please dont let the few people who are rude ruin the dis experience for you! Your question about the resort mugs was a valid one. Some people just dont get why/how you can spend $$$ on the resorts for 2 week, and yet dont want to pay $11 extra dollars for another mug that you already have X amount(s) of. :confused3 This is really silly IMO. I personally am the type of person who will print out the $5 off a round trip coupon for the limo service. LOL! Keep your chin up and have a great time on your vacation!

disneyfreakk, well said :thumbsup2 The OP asked a simple and, as you say, valid question but for some reason because it's about refillable mugs, she gets insulted. Very strange.

The mug policy isn't enforced. If you want to steal soda and use an old mug, paper cup or mug from another resort you probably won't get stopped.

Deluxe hotels have refrigerators and coffee makers in the room. It's cheaper and easier to just buy soda and make your own coffee. The Hess station across from PI has great prices. If you don't have a car and aren't making a grocery stop just take a Disney bus to DTD, get off at the PI stop and walk across the parking lot. There is a crosswalk with a light so it's safe.

The maid will give you extra coffe packets if you ask. The coffee you make is much better than the coffee you'll get with your mugs.

Hi everyone!
Didn't know I asked such a "hot" question!!!! :headache:
I was just curious.
This is our first time splitting our stay so I wasn't sure. It is also our first time staying at a delux....a real splurge for us - being Canadians and all. We normally don't spend more than the $110 code rate for a moderate, so the $300/night we are paying at the POLY for spring break is a HUGE splurge for us!!!!.
I figured with the refrigerators in the rooms now, we might not get our moneys worth out of the mugs. My husband and I don't drink pop and I don't really like my kids to drink unlimited amounts of pop. I just thought it would be fun for them to be able to use one. I wish you could use them for milk and juice, then they would be worth it for sure!
Don't worry I won't be like the irate lady at OKW and demand I use my mug! I was just curious :thumbsup2
thanks to everyone here....you guys are just so knowledgeable.

walkermm, even if you never used them for free refills I think it's worth getting at least one as a souvenir. They were so popular with my boys, not just for the free refills but as cups in and of themselves. We had our own supply of water and juice in our fridge in Port Orleans so often I'd fill up the mugs with our own drinks just cause they looked nice. Show your kids a photo of the POR one and the Poly one and perhaps let them choose one each to buy - even if you use them to put juice, milk or water into from your own supply in the fridge, they'll get a kick out of the lovely designs AND they are so not as messy as carrying around juice boxes or glasses of milk :)

Hi walkermm :goodvibes

Hope you didnt take my previous post in this thread too serious!. What i meant was, that with the amount of money that you are spending, its only a small amount for the mugs compared to the money your giving out on the resorts!.

If you want to keep costs down, you could do 8 days at POR and 6 days at POLY, and then have the money to buy mugs for everyone in your party at both resorts! :teacher: :thumbsup2

No one checks your mugs so dont worry about it....I have seen people using mugs from Seaworld, Universal, baby bottles, and tupperware, even local gas station mugs and no one says one word. Since there is Mickey and pals on the mugs they will definetly leave you alone. Plus the cost of one fill up is like $.0003 to Disney anyways ha ha
