This will be my first stay at Saratoga Springs and wondering if the resort sells refillable mugs and if so, where is the refill station located...TIA :)

We were able to purchase and use the refillable mugs last fall at SSR. You can purchase and refill them in the counter service location there. It's just down the hall from the lobby in the main building.

Are they still using the generic mugs?

Dennis-

this is great to know! We're new members and our only regret was not getting the refillable mugs.

Even though we don't need them now, DH always enjoyed getting his yearly souvenir and rarely buys anything else for himself!

Can you use the same mugs if you take multiple trips within a year, or are you supposed to buy new ones each trip?

As mentioned you can get & refill mugs at Artist's Palette. You can also get & refill them at HRS Pool & Grandstand Pool (Backstrech Bar)

They are good for length of stay according to the fine print on the mug.

:thumbsup2 After several trips, we find SSR to have the most convenient refillable mug options of all the DVC resorts.

We use them all the time at SSR. When we dine at AP we use them at the refill station there and then at the main pool there's a self serve refill station which is also convenient to when we are hanging out at Community Hall.

As posted, SSR has 3 mug stations and they are all self serve

Have a great trip! We love SSR there is so much to do at the resort and the staff is great!:wizard:

Are you sure? I don't recall seeing fine print on my mugs. We bought some in January and I was wondering if we could use them in December.

Using refillable mugs at SSR may not be very practical due to the location of the rooms/pool and the refill station. You'll find that the mugs don't really hold that much and by the time you get back to your room they are half empty. You'll soon tire of the walk back and forth.

Also remember that the pool bar refill stations (soda only) are only open when the pool bar is open.
On my last trip (July) that meant the pool bar did not open before noon (Despite resort TV mentioning 11a) and always seemed to be closed by the time we got back from the parks.

This is wonderful news as I find it hard to function without my diet coke! :rotfl:

We bought the mugs when we stayed at SSR in December and refilled both there and at AKV when we went pool hopping. There is no real policing of the refill stations, and while I wouldn't recommend it we saw countless people going up with every type of mug and getting refill - so you really don't need a mug, per se.

We bought the mugs, but after the first few days we just started filling the thermos we bought with us to Florida. The DIS mugs are probably only about 8oz, and the constant refills (when filling with ice) get to be monotonous. Especially when you're using them in you room / park.

I'm not going to get into the debate over refillable mugs.... just pointing out that on the mugs we bought in June, right next to the handle it says "Free refills available at our Resort Beverage Islands until the end of the stay in which the mug was purchased"

Wow, you hit 2 of the hottest buttons on the Dis. A thermos & pool hopping :lmao:

Rarely do we leave our room to get a drink and walk right back, no matter where we stay.

We are either on our way/at the pool or Community Hall or going to the quick service restaurant.

We do keep some drinks (like bottle water) in the room and I like my own coffee, but if we are hanging at the resort (which we do alot) we carry our mugs around.

tink:goodvibes Love my Diet Coke too!

All the mugs are the same, so there is alot of mug-hopping:lmao:

With the new dining plans, I think there will be even more mug-hopping than before.

"Mug hopping" In terms of using your refilliable mug at all resorts during the length of your reservation is, I'm 99% certain, allowed. (I thought that was what the sigh above the AP refill station stated)
I thought the only illegality/contention was bringing your mug back for a 2nd or 3rd trip during the year.
