Refillable mug lids - cleaning??

I did search for this and didn't find too much . . . we are new to the mugs, having not gotten them before this last trip. (Plus the fantastically cuter, cheaper, but non refillable Parks mug in the Magic Kingdom, but I digress).

Anyway -- on the lid, there is the center piece you twist to open and close the drinking holes. Does that pop out for washing?? It seems like it should b/c I see liquid getting under there, but I've pulled at it a bit and it doesn't seem to want to come out. And I obviously don't want to break it! :scared1:

Am I just being an idiot and far too gentle?

Thanks!

On some mugs like resort design from the Contemporary, the lid from that one had a hole where you insert the straw. However the lid from the Year Of A Million Dreams logo mugs had a lid where you twist it to open so you can put a straw in and twist it to close it up.

Yes, the new ones (pink, blue, yellow) have the twisting open/close top. But is that twisting piece removeable from the lid for washing separately?

We have the red, yellow and black mugs from last year with the lids that twist to close off the hole.

The twisting piece does pop off to clean. This takes some force (well, force is too strong of a word) but I thought DH was going to break the lid!!!

But it really was okay, and they snap back on good as new. We have had these since September (use mine daily) and we haven't had a problem with them loosening or anything!

The middle does pop out for cleaning, but there is nothing to help cleaning under the lip. :(

This is exactly what I was worried about - the force required! :) Ok, I think I will give the popping out a try and not worry about breaking the lid then.

Me too :laughing: Never thought the lid comes apart! I just soak it.

Anyone know where I can see a pic of the new mugs? Just curious how they look now.
