Refillable Drink

Never posted on this thread...I lurk around the cruise thread. I hope this isn't a hot topic, but...here it goes anyway.

We bought our refillable mugs years ago at CBR and used them a lot. I never thought to bring them along again the next few years. I have seen people with really old mugs (from CBR) using them year after year at CBR.

Is this allowed?

Just an innocent question...please be kind. :rotfl:

In theory? No...it's not allowed. Your refillable mug is only good for your lenght of stay at that resort for that trip.

In reality? I've never seen anyone reprimanded at the soda fountain for using an old mug/mug from another resort.

They are definitely free refills for any cup at a self service refillable station.

Well then...who knew??!!!! I would never have thought to refill my paper cup before reading this thread. I was always the one who buys a new refill. mug, even though I have about 17 of the *&^% things on my shelf!! I'm beginning to think that I'm the idiot. I may just be bringing back those refill mugs. Or just buying a papercup and refilling it at each meal...now that's cost effective. Really, we obsess over whether or not it's 'right' to reuse your mug that you paid in the area of $13 for. Yes, it's a nice souvenier but come now..how many can we use. If Disney really feels that we are abusing the system then they will go with a barcode sticker for each trip and you can refill anything you want. I am so done with worrying about the 'mug police' at WDW....in fact, I think it might be time to take up a different fight....I watched several families at the food court in Pop a week ago just make a huge mess at their table or booth and then just leave it!!! Really, they just up and left their trash, food and all, sitting there. Several families stopped, looked at the table and walked away, thinking the table was still being used. Now, that's not right. Pick up your trash people!!! Well, except for those 'refillable cups'!! :rolleyes1 :drinking:

Oh no, here we go again. And that is all I am going to say on this matter.

I have always assumed if it is a self-serve drink station, then refills are free during your meal. I will continue to assume that is the case. I have never seen anything to say it is not in or outside of the World.

I have an innocent question too, so please be kind. :flower:

If you truly had no idea that mug discussion was a "hot topic", why would you mention that you hope it isn't and ask everyone to be kind to your innocent question?

as mentioned before....I lurk only on the cruise thread and there are many "Hot Topics" there too.

Sorry to offend you...I'll go back to the cruise thread now....YIKES!!!!!

Never said it offended me, just curious. :sunny:

And for those that wanted to know about drink refills when you buy a paper cup, you do get unlimited refills during that meal, but not after you leave the food area.

I asked someone in upper management with food and beverage. It would be the same policy as your local McDonalds.

Do you mean purchasing one drink and rinsing out the same paper cup after each drink and refilling that cup at the beverage station each day?

Well yeah, that's what I meant, but it was sort of tongue in cheek!! I just never realized you could do that at the refill stations. I've been making do with one drink at McD's all this time and telling dd that she gets one drink and that's it. Now I know better. See, even if it is a 'hot topic' you can still learn something. I'm going to say this and be done though....
If you are asking about how many times and what different places you can refill your Disney mug...those of us that have been there, know what the signage says. Or what the current mugs say on the side...use this trip only, at the place it was purchased. Those of us with older mugs know what CMs told us back in the good 'ole days...mugs are good forever at that resort. So, basically, go with what makes you comfy. No, it is not all right to bring your 7-11 Big Gulp and refill it...or that huge McD supersize thing you get once in awhile. Try to stick with a mug you actually paid for at WDW and reuse it at that resort...even if it was 5 yrs ago. I'm bringing mine back in Nov to BWV/BCV...that will be a first for me!!!

This is the same Sammie that once said that he gets official responses about refillable mugs from Rosemary Rose, VP of WDW Food & Beverage?

Sammie, I thought you said you were going to let this topic go...but every time I see a refillable mug debate, you're in there like a kid in the candy store?

Disney did call me back after I emailed Rosemary a few times asking if she had an official response regarding the old mugs vs. the new mugs. It was someone with much lower seniority though...I guess Rosemary had spent enough time on the phone with you that week? Anyways, they confirmed what I thought - there was a "life-time refillable mug policy" when they began, and it has changed since. But they would honor my mug sold under the original sale conditions every time I visit that resort again. I love Disney...they're so diplomatic and fair! They really want to help the Guest and that's what I loved about working there too!

Good to see you on the mug debates again, Sammie! But I wonder how we can ever believe anything you say anymore if last time you said you'd let this topic go? (see here):

Oh well, no harm done. You're a fun guy and I missed our mug talks! Congrats on the 3000 posts buddy! Woohoo!

I am going to lock this thread now.

Please remember that attacks on other posters are not allowed on the DIS.

Also, I would like to mention that there has been an increasing number of posters who have been posting on mugs and pool hopping threads only to try to get others to post the comments to get the threads heated. This only leads to threads being closed.

Please try to keep threads on topic, and friendly. We don't like having to close them.

Karen
