Referrals...

Quick question....
I occasionally receive mailings from DVC asking me for referrals.
Is there a Kickback to members for the referrals.
Just wondering.

If your state allows referrals then yes, if you refer someone to DVC and they puchase they send you a certificate for redemption of Disney Dollars.

Disney dollars can be used for WDW,cruise,dues,down payment on DVC,etc.

1st referral-$200 Disney Dollars
2nd " -$350 Disney Dollars
3rd " -$500 Disney Dollars

Here is the list of states that allow referrals...........

Alabama,California,Delaware,Florida,GeorgiaHawaii,Idaho,Illonois,Iowa,Kansas,Louisianna,Maryland,Mass,Missisippi,Missouri,Nevada,New Hampshire,New Jersey,New Mexico,New York,North Dakota,Ohio,Rhode Island,South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Now the states that you posted, are they the state that I reside in or the state the new purchaser resides in.
I actually have property in one state on your list and one that is not on the list. I live in PA, and that is the address of my contract. If I changed my address to the other state, then I qualify for the referral money?

It is for the state that "you" reside in. So your Pa address would make you in-eligible for the referral reward.

THat's an interesting way of going about it! The only problem would be that all your information would go to the address on the contract.

And, each referral is treated seperately, right?

Meaning, you get $200 for first referral and $350 for the 2nd referral (within a given year?) for a total of $550, right?

That is correct. If you get your 1st referral on Dec 15th,2003, you have until Dec 15th 2004, for them to keep increasing in amounts.
For example ...........3 referrals below

1st referral Dec 15,2003-$200 Disney Dollars
2nd referral Feb 20,2004-$350 Disney Dollars (Total-$550)

3rd referral Dec 16,2004- goes back to $200 Disney Dollars

Thats a good question mbb.........I would call your guide and ask about Canadians.

I always thought that referrals were based on the calendar year. If what you are saying is true then DVC owes me $150 DD. We referred someone who closed in June (was referred in May) one year and another that closed in February of the following year. We only received $200 for each referral. Doubt if they will kick in the extra $150 now, since it was a couple years ago. Oh well, it's good info for the future.

I am curently trying to claim my referral bonus for a coworker (also old friend) who closed last month. Before she and the family headed down, I had deluged her with the info I had gotten in the initial sales process, since she seemed like a perfect DVC candidate to me. Unfortunately, I did not give her name and address to our guide or to the site, since it seemed her family would not to be ready for the next couple of years, and I figured it would be pushy of me to do so. But then I come back from a few days off to learn that they had gone and bought SSR.

I have a call into the manager of the DVC referral bonus program, and will edit this post with the updated info. I will also inquire for our Maritime provinces friend mbb about Canadians and the referral program

OK, here's the update. Heard back from Mike Tassie (sp?) head of the referral program (or "programme" for you Canadians). It looks like I am out of luck on trying to reclaim my first referral, but for future reference he told me what I would need to do in future: Talk to my guide, and let her know that XX is thinking of DVC, I had given them info, etc. and Then I could get credit for it, even if they never send out a package to the newbies.

As for Canadian content, the answer is a big NO, no referral goodies for Candians at all, mainly cuz DVC doesn't want to delve into 10-12 more jurisdictions and get legal opinions on how to market to you and all. Further, he notes that due to a new Cdn Federal law coming into effect in January, DVC will be limited in the types and quantities of information sent to potential DVC buyers in Canada. I guess we'll just refer them to these boards, etc.

However I, as a Massachusetts USA resident can get a referral bonus for a Canadian friend who buys DVC. How about that? I'll need to go thru my McGill alumni network... maybe not. Of course since the bonuses go up according to the number, you can send any of your referrals to me (or another eligible US member) and I'll send the Disney $$ back to you, if you like
