We joined DVC in 2012. We referred friends of ours who joined in May 25, 2013 under our referral. We haven't heard anything from DVC on a referral reward. Does anyone know how long it takes to receive notification of the referral reward?

It's usually taken at least a few weeks to get a letter for our guide saying thanks for referring so and so. Then, later than that, we got a notice separately that they had purchased and we had a reward.

We've had 3 referrals over the years and the entire process took at least a few months each time. It's only been 6 days since your friends purchased. You can always check the Sharing the Magic page on DVCmember.com to see if a anything is there for you.

Also, some states aren't eligible for referral rewards.

We've had several referrals, and the time frame has been different for each one as far as receiving our rewards. My DH didn't create his own account online for DVC, and the first two referrals we received went under his name for some odd reason. Therefore, it took quite a bit longer, and DVC finally mailed us a card telling us that we had received the referral reward and asking us to choose which reward we wanted. The process for this took several months.

We referred two different families in March. We received our reward online within two weeks of one of the referrals. I was shocked! We had our Disney gift card within two weeks of choosing our reward. That's the fastest we've ever received a reward! We also created an account online for my husband so we could see our rewards faster after finding out after the first two referrals that it slows up the process if he doesn't have an online account (if the referral goes under his name and not mine). Ironically, our referrals in March went under my name and not my husband's for some odd reason.

I will caution you that we've had quite a bit of trouble with DVC and rewards twice now. We ended up being right both times, but it took LOTS of calls to DVC. I was given the runaround multiple times but knew for a fact that our referrals did in fact list us as their referral, and I also knew they had never looked in to DVC prior to learning about it from us. They signed the form that is necessary in order for us to receive our referral, but somewhere along the way, DVC dropped the ball. They did make it right, but I had to spend hours on the phone trying to find someone that could help me. We finally received our gift card for our second referral in mid-May, but that time frame still wasn't bad considering they had just purchased in March. If I hadn't been diligent about it, we likely never would have received our reward for our second referral in March.

My advice would be to be patient because it's likely way too early for you to see your referral but to also watch it closely and stay on top of it. DVC does make mistakes, and we've had it happen to us twice now. If you don't see a Sharing the Magic reward online within the next 5 or 6 weeks, I'd most definitely start calling. Good luck--although it's been a pain for us, those gift cards are wonderful, and I'm just glad we are eligible for them and have always eventually received them.

OP are you eligible for a reward according to your state laws?

We are not eligible here where I live so all I ever have gotten is a pretty letter saying thank you but that's it ((we are in BC))

A friend of mine purchased DVC today and used my name for the referral. I hope I don't have any problems with the referral award. Is there anything I should do like call my DVC guide?

My friend and I bought into DVC in March, used the same person for referral. They received a letter (and subsequent gift) about her's but never mine...so working to figure out WHY that happened as we speak

We folk in Michigan get a nice letter....that's all...wish they had listed my daughter who lives in Colorado and is on our contracts, and CAN get referral awards ..:confused3

IMO this is just another area where DVD/DVC is lacking. If they really cared they would process your reward tomorrow and not weeks or months away. They would make sure that you receive credit and not make people do their own follow up.

Bad way to run a business IMO.
