This is just a warning for those of you receiving the REF 1st time cruiser $50 onboard credit. I was one of MANY who kept getting conflicting stories about the credit from DCL. After calling several times, I got a DCL operator who applied it with no questions asked. I even got her name in case of a problem. Well, I just called to verify that my $50 credit was applied, but I was told that it was not. I was again told that it wasn't combinable with my AmEx package. I even spoke with a supervisor and gave him the name of the DCL operator I spoke with and the date & time that I spoke with her. He said there was nothing he could do.

It's just kind of frustrating because I got a different story each time I called. Then when I finally got the credit applied (or at least was told it was applied), it turns out is wasn't. DCL should really get their story straight instead of giving everyone conflicting info.

So please be forewarned in case you are expecting to get the credit and end up empty handed.

This sounds so familar to our experience in October. First we had it, then we didn't, then we did, then we didn't. While on board the Magic, we were finally told that it couldn't be combined with the Florida Resident rates. Well, sure wish the first, second and third CM I spoke to proir to the cruise had said that!! We decide, though, that we would not let $50 ruin our vacation. We just wish that everyone was on the same page.

Sorry you did not get your credits. Yes, I agree it would really be great if everyone was on the same page w/o conflicting stories. Our TA informed us this credit cannot be combined with any, other than early-booking. She sent us new contracts with the $50 credit for each of our 5 cabin. So hopefully Dis honors it ;)

How do you know if your account has been credited for an onboard ship credit? My TA from Dreams said she got the $50 credit and Dreams was offering a $75 credit but how does one know? Will I just have to wait and see when I get on the ship or get my cruise documents?

We are DVC members and booked our cruise with points. After hearing about this credit, I called DVC customer service and inquired about having this credit applied to our cruise. His first response was, "I do not think you will be eligible for this credit because you booked with points and that is considered an offer and you cannot combine.... you know that story.. well, he said he would call DCL anyway just to be for sure. When he came back, he said, "Ok, I lied, you are eligible for the credit and it has been applied to your account." :O) Now we'll see if it is actually there when we cruise :O)

And we received the credit. I just called and gave the number on the phone. I asked our cabin hostess when I saw her after we boarded, and she told me it had been applied.

I'd heard so many conflicting stories prior to that. It does make it really difficult.

When I called DCL direct and asked for the credit, they said "No problem", but, instead of applying a credit to my ressie, they said that there would be a $50 shipboard credit certificate in my room when we board. We got Springtime Magic rate, plus free soda mugs from AAA, but no other promo.
I really hope it is there, because I don't want this $50 to get me in a tizzy if I have to "fight" for it. Not the way I want to start my vacation! If it is not there, who would I speak to? How could I prove that they said we would have a certificate? Thanks, Sue

Sasha - I was also told couldn't combine credits. I have the AmEx Carbbean Magic package (with the $250 credit) and was not allowed to add the $50 credit for Disney Club members as I was told the Amex credit was not combinable with any others. Wish I could also add the REF.:(

Hi All,

I was wondering after seeing all the posts about the REF credit as to wheather or not I could combine it with the 50 credit from Disney Club? I emailed my TA and she replied that after talking to DCL it was not a problem and had my contract updated? I am concerned I will not have the credits when I show up? Has anyone else tried to use both credits and received them on a cruise.

we got the credit and I called the day b/f I left to check it. Also, your stateroom hostess gives you a slip of paper confirming the credit. It sure was nice since the alcohol is sooooooo expensive!!!!!
