For those who rent or purchase timeshares, which do you recommend spending the money for the annual fee to join?

Personally, I joined both. I can't remember the cost but I saved FAR more than what it cost me. My first rental through Tug I received a 1BR Dlx at WBC for $560 Week 24 for a week. The second rental, which should finalize Wednesday, I found the owner through another site. That owner is a PlatinumVIP owner. He rents half his points and passes the benefits to the renters (rebook at 60-day mark with 50% of the points and next available upgrade free if there is inventory). This owner rents half his points to cover all of the MFs. He gets to use the other half of his points for free travel now. Basically he charges for rentals based on his overall MFs. It is about $7/1000 points. Heck, if he doesn't get me an upgrade this week, I still get a 1BR Dlx for ~$550. Current rates for a 1BR for Week 24 or 25 is running around $1,000. Paying about $30 for the sites is well worth it.

though for tug you did not have to join to get rental information. Now if you are the one renting then you do - you save money by joining than paying the renting fee.

redweek was okay - heard it has improved.

also use to use myresortnetwork.com for renting too.
