Redeeming multiple MPs?

Can't find the process for scanning in for rides. If I have a party of 7, will each ticket be scanned in separately or will one scan grab all eligible people? I guess what I’m getting at, is will it take forever to get everyone scanned in?

For a group that large, if everyone is old enough to scan themselves, it may be faster to have each person carry their ticket or a copy of the barcode on their ticket in a lanyard, then have each person scan at the machine. A copy of the back of the ticket or AP will work just a well as the original as long as the barcode is clear. Some people carry all the copies on a lanyard themselves for scanning -- this saves battery life on your phone, too, as well as helping to keep the line moving.

Is there a video of getting and redeeming MPs?

Yep, you will need to scan in every guest. We primarily use the App for our family of four. I go first with the App up and ready to go and as I scan, the rest of the family enters one at a time and then I enter last. The kids are well trained at this point and as soon as they see the green light and hear the sound for a successful scan they walk on through.

The App is set up nicely so you can scroll through the MP/FP's quickly.

You have to scan individually. One scan will not cover all seven.

I personally find it faster to just scan park tickets/APs especially with larger groups rather than using the app.

Ah, I see. So I’m probably better off reserving them on the app and redeeming with tickets. Or all I need is a picture of the barcode of each ticket? Might get lost in all my pictures though.

We’ll only be there for two days, hence the reason we’ll use MP. The kids aren’t all old enough to scan themselves in. ;)

Thanks for the help! 3 more days!!!

I just scan the cards. I find it is easier than scrolling in the app and saves my phone battery life. I just hang on to the cards for everyone in my group and scan all of them and we walk in together. We haven't been asked to scan separately, but I could see that happening.

This is a slightly separate, but related, question - how does MP work if you want to split up your group? My family is myself, DW, DD8, and DD4. At WDW we often split up our FPs and use Rider Switch in conjunction with them for things that DD4 is too short to ride. Can we do the same thing at DLR with MP? For example:

Me & DD8 have FP for Space Mountain, while DW & DD4 have FP for Buzz Lightyear at the same time. We all go to the Space FP entrance and pick up a Rider Switch pass, me & DD8 ride Space with our FPs, and DW & DD4 go to Buzz and ride that with their FPs. Then we meet back at Space, and DW & DD8 ride Space using the Rider Switch pass.

Will this work the same way at DLR, or is the procedure for FPs & Rider Switch different there?

There were some recent changes to the rider swap system. I didn't keep track of the changes because I don't use rider swap, but I seem to remember you get assigned a specific return time now, so that might affect your plans. I think they put the swap on the actual tickets now too, and I don't know if that means they basically keep track of who already rode and who still gets to ride (meaning your DD8 might not be able to ride twice). But I have no idea what I'm talking about, so I should probably stop talking and give you a link to more useful info.

Thank you for the link, that thread was really helpful! It does sound like (as of right now) you are able to take up to 2 people back on with you when using the Rider Swap pass.

I'm planning on using lanyards, but if I could use lanyards with a copy of the ticket that would be even better...does printing out the eticket email and cutting out the barcode portion work just as well as a copy of the paper ticket? or is there a different barcode when they give you a paper ticket? FWIW this is from LMTClub, but the email says "these are your actual tickets."

When you use MP you can select who in your party you are getting a FP for. So you can get your Buzz FP's for half the group and Space for the other half, just make sure each group has the right tickets with them.

We were there last week - I didn’t use the app at first to scan our MPs...
Six of us, handed 3 and 3 to someone... then one ride I tried the app... way faster IMO... scan, slide, scan, slide... super quick

I'm not sure if that would work. Maybe someone who has tried it could comment here. When we had LMT ticket vouchers, we exchanged them for paper tickets at the turnstiles. Your vouchers from LMT say they are your actual tickets (and they are for the purpose of going through the turnstiles), but they aren't your "actual tickets" if you want to get a paper FP at the machines (they won't fit inside the slot). You will need a paper ticket from the turnstile for that. As far as I know, people are making copies of the actual ticket from the turnstiles or APs, not the vouchers.

Thanks for the clarification. So my e-tickets I can already see in the DL app will work to get us through the turnstyle, then I can book MP using the app, but keep the paper tickets we get at the turnstyle in lanyards or my wallet for easy scanning. Sounds like a plan! My only other step will be to set an alarm on my phone as soon as I get a MP for when I'm able to get the next one (if return time is > 90 min). So looking forward to trying this out!
