Yes, it's free.. as long as you return it by 9 p.m. the following day.
When you first walk up to the machine, there is a little button on the bottom left of the screen that says "rent with a promo code" and you just press that and enter the code.

I thought the program was extended as is until August? Maybe I misunderstood
