How do you clean out a peanut butter jar for recycling? :confused3

They want cleaned out things only

Or give it to the dog and have the extra entertainment of watching him try to get it off the roof of his mouth...good time.

We stick them in the sink with some soapy water and let it soak for awhile, then put the lid back on and shake it. It does come out.

We recycle just about everything we can, but there are a few things I just toss and won't mess with to recycle, like chili cans. The greasy chili residue is pretty hard to get out without using so much water that I can't really see that as being particularly helpful in the grand scheme of things (and I'm not going to shove my hand in there to scrub it out and cut myself on the tag where the can opener didn't perfectly cut through). But of course that's just my opinion...

The dog gets the peanut butter jar. We use to scrape his nylabone in.

I do the same thing and put hot water and soap and put the lid on and shake. I just rinse out chili cans.

I guess I could just rinse the chili cans and call that good enough. Maybe I'm being too anal about getting them actually clean.

Well, you could be like my Dad and just use your finger to get every morsel of peanut butter out of the jar...

Fill it with hot water & a drop of dishsoap and leave it in the sink over night. In the morning, pour the water out. Most of it will come out when you pour the water out. You can put it under the faucet and run some water over any pieces that don't pour out.
