Recurring Dream

I have this frequent recurring dream where I am driving alone at night, and I'm struggling to stay awake.

Interesting, yes I have had the dream where I am driving while so tired that I am falling asleep dream, and this is the first time I have heard of someone else having it.

Yes, I started having that recurring a dream when I was a teenager. For me, there isn't any real traction with the road, the car is kind of hovering and I can't stay in my lane (it's always at night with not a lot of other traffic) and I can't keep my eyes open -- it's all kind of in slow motion.

My recurring school dream isn't about not studying for an exam or not remembering a locker combination, but that I'm roaming the halls of my high school (which doesn't really look that much like my high school, but it's supposed to be) and I can't remember where my classrooms are.

Tornadoes -- although, I haven't had one in a while.

I'm on a rollercoaster and the lap bar comes up, I'm holding onto the bar while my legs are on the side of the coaster flapping in the wind cartoon-style.

Does anyone else dream A LOT? I always have. I start dreaming upon falling asleep. If I doze off as a passenger in the car on a road trip, I've been known to tell my family about a very detailed dream, only for them to say that I dozed off less than 5 minutes earlier. I hate that I dream so much -- I'm jealous when people say they don't dream very often or don't remember because they probably are getting better "deeper sleep" than me. My dreams aren't usually bad, just weird/nonsensical.

Yes, that's exactly the way I would describe my dream.

To be honest, I don't put much stock in overanalysis of dreams. I believe it's mostly just the brain unpacking, rearranging, and filing long term and short term memories. But I still find them fascinating.

I dream a lot. Sometimes I am so happy when I wake up and realize that it's only a dream! Other times they are actually pretty interesting and I'd love to go back to sleep and pick up where I left off.

I regularly dream that I am running (away, toward) something. Occasionally it's that I'm trying to push my way through something like water. I usually wake up with my heart beating pretty fast. I'm trying to decide if my heart rate is causing the dreams, or my dreams are causing the heart rate. I'm a very stressed out person ~ either is certainly possible.

I have mild sleep apnea, most of the time not significant. However, there were a few times where I stopped breathing. Sleep apnea like that will cause dreams of holding my breath while swimming underwater, or similar smothering related dreams. Then suddenly waking and gasping in a breath. Of course the heart is racing also, because I was not breathing. It's not really good for you, stressful.

Anyway, I went to the doctor and did a sleep study. Mild sleep apnea...I decided to try a CPAP. I do sleep better with it. Dreams still occur, but they are not the kind that wake me up.

OP, it's so much fun reading about all these dreams!

I hardly ever have dreams, or I just don't remember them.
There is one recurring dream that drives me crazy!
Our entire family of kids/grandkids/ grandma/ great grands are all on vacation at WDW staying in a big hotel. I am always trying to get everyone together so we can go into the parks together (why I don'tknow), and I can never, ever find anyone. I might find one, but there are about a dozen more I can't find. So, I spend all my vacation time trying to round everyone up and go to the parks.
I get this over and over and I don't know why? I've never had trouble with going with a big group at all.

I think that's a pretty common theme in dreams, where you are looking for people and can't seem to find them.

Mine... and they are not pro Disney family members....they want to linger on main Street... which is usually a indoor shopping mall
