Recreation?

Hello!

I just got accepted for fall as a recreations cast member, but unfortunately I know little about the role. I looked at the responsibilities on the website and have a basic understanding (I selected it b/c a recruiter suggested it at my college's presentation), but before I accept I was hoping to know a little more about it! I haven't seen much about it on the other posts either lol. It is a smaller role? Any former or current cast members out there who could give me some info?? I'd really appreciate it!

Hey! First off, to the DISboards, and Congratulations on being accepted to the Disney College Program!

I just finished my CP in Recreation in January, and I had a BLAST! In fact, I loved it so much that I went seasonal after my program and am actually headed back to work in a couple of weeks!

Anyway, Recreation is a great role, at least in my experience. I worked in children's activities, so my job was hosting pool parties at the resorts, working in Community Hall, and working at the childcare centers. It was a lot of fun, I was basically paid to play with kids all day!

Other roles under Recreation include working at the docks where guests can rent boats, working golf cart rentals, working at the resort arcades, working at the miniature golf courses, or working slide operations at the water parks.

There wasn't a lot of information about recreation when I was accepted into the role either, but honestly, I haven't met a single person who doesn't like working in recreation. It's a fun, laidback job outside in the Florida sunshine....enjoy it!

My friend Alyssa has a blog with a LOT of possible phone interview questions, it helped it out a lot! All of the questions asked in my interview were on there, so I had an idea of what I wanted to say. I'm not sure if she has any questions specifically about recreation, but there are plenty of others! You should check it out!

I'm having trouble remembering specific questions I was asked about recreation during my interview (especially since it was almost a year ago now!), but I DO remember being asked questions like "How do you feel during an emergency?" I guess because some recreation roles are by the pool and require CPR and First Aid certification. I do remember that I didn't find any of the questions to be hard to answer. I'm sure you'll do fine, good luck!

I had a friend who did recreationsand was stationed working in the All Star Resort arcades and she loved the role.

thanks guys! I have my interview on Wednesday morning. I know I applied kinda late but I am still hoping there is room.

Are first aid and CPR certification required for this role?
