I am looking forward to listening to you all tomorrow. It was a long 2 weeks for me when Pete was sick, almost like not talking to a favorite Aunt for a few weeks, I missed hearing all your voices.

Disclaimer: Views of this post reflects the opinions of this poster. I am still not finding the desire to do US/IOA, however I find the Universal Parks in CA and (what I saw of my oldest bil's pictures)Sentosa (Singapore). We might entertain City Walk if we do some off WDW-property outings. I wished that any Florida park (WDW,US/IOA,Sea World, whatever parks) take some cues from various Asian parks and have more cover/shade from the rains.



Lou Holtz, I can understand that there are lot of people who are bit zealous in supporting a park, but I find that you could had shown some of us who are not Potter fans or US/IOA fans by using maybe some sugar instead of vinegar. You could had taken an opportunity to show how US/IOA supports the local community or maybe future hopes for growth or even the Howling Nights. I think that US/IOA needs to update the rest of the parks to suit a larger population and maybe try Terminator 3 as an update to its Terminator 2 ride. I realize that you were hoping to gain more US/IOA Orlando fan support. By the way, I looked at the US/IOA site while I was pondering how to respond to your multiple posts before forming the latest opinion. I hope that you come to discuss the Universal podcast next week.

How about a NASCAR land at US/IOA? I'll camp out to see Tony Stewart or any of the top 15 in the points. I used to love the Days of Thunder (motion simulator) when it existed at Kings Dominion (when it was a Paramount park).

Ok not to start anything but here is my 2 cents worth. We recently bought AP's to Universal figuring we would go over and see Harry Potter and our friends who work at citywalk can get free tickets from time to time for the family so what the heck. All I have to say is Harry Potter land better be the most amazing thing I have ever seen. The rest of the park is in complete disrepair. Everything needs a refurb. I could not believe the condition of the rides, waiting areas, rude staff, and overall dirtyness of the parks. I feel like my money was wasted and I will not renew my AP's when they expire. They can not hold Disneys jock strap so to speak. Just an overall disappointment to me. I dont think anything has changed in the 10 years since our last visit. So ho hum I learned my lesson $600 later. No more AP's for us. I cant imagine any one area is worth the cost of an AP.

It's sad how you guys are acting right now, honestly. It's like in third grade when a new kid comes in. She said "Suddenly, I'm in the mood for some Kool Aid". That's the exact post. There are no two ways to take that. I know you guys know that and you're acting like a bunch of third grade bullies because you know each other and I don't post in this particular area very often. Please, we are human beings. I can't believe how nasty you guys are acting right now.

You aren't endearing me to you when you're dwelling on the trivial. Can you grow a thicker skin and move on? Good. I wanted to comment on one of your "devil's advocate" posts. I think Universal was clearly in the wrong when its own resorts were sending guests messages in their rooms that the WWOHP would open at 6am and then it doesn't open until a couple hours later. That's just poor communication among Universal's management.

From what I had been reading, there was a lot of communication breakdowns among the Universal staff in the parks, too. I always wonder why this happens, when Universal had to know they needed a plan of action on opening day. There has to be accountability.

If this is the public mentality when it comes to WWoHP than Universal has already failed miserably and the only one they have to blame for this is themselves.

I am concerned about wheelchair accessibility in the Harry Potter area.

I am very concerned over the comments that the Rosen School Professor made to WESH. (Because I am going to the Rosen School, to learn the theme park business, very soon) I disagree very strongly with the comments in the WESH report.

As someone who pays very close attention to the business decisions made by the Orlando theme parks, I think this area has been mismanaged from a marketing and operations stand point. Universal had the football on the 1 yard line, and they fumbled. The question is: Will they be able to recover the fumble?

I am getting E-Mails and phone calls from friends and former travel clients asking me questions about "the new Harry Potter theme park." I feel bad because I dont want anyone to be disappointed when visiting any Orlando theme park.

No matter how anyone feels about the Harry Potter area....it is very difficult to justify $300 for a broom.

Kevin's dining reviews and Pete's rants always make me smile and laugh.....After all the Harry Potter ranting I've done on my Facebook page....I am sure that I will be laughing and cheering tomorrow. I sincerely hope, in my heart of hearts, that Pete mentions the $300 broom.

A collectible is a collectible. Value is in the eye of the beholder. $300 is cheap in comparison to some things that are made to be collectibles at Disney. Universal is now trying to be in the market of selling collectibles for this like Disney has for years. If you fault Universal for that, then you have to fault Disney in the same way and just as loudly.

The price of a print or figurine is understandable. That is art. A broom is a broom, is a broom.

Theme park charge what they charge because of captive audiences. Same with movie theatres. But, a broom?

In all fairness, a big joke in our family has been me paying $300 (each) for folding chairs from the World Wrestling Federation. I will probably do it again at some point.

Management of the Harry Potter project has been both concerning and just plain funny. Charging $300 for a broom is just cream on the butterbeer.

Good points...I agree that if there is a market for it, Universal has a right to charge whatever they wish.

That said....the reason why I find the whole broom thing as funny is that I have not seen anything in the advertising copy that says "Collectible" or "Collector's item." If they can put a castle in a parking lot, and market it as a "theme park," then they can market the broom as "Collectible."

I do not fault Universal for prices. However, $300 for a broom will always give me the giggles.

it has been incredibly hot.....i thought i was going to literally roast out there today..

i turned into one of those fuddy duddy buttinsky types at the magic kingdom today...
there was a family with a small baby, waiting in the hot sun for that cute dance parade...
i practically forced them to stand where i was in the shade....that baby was burning to a crisp (as was the rest of the family)....

anyway....it's HOT out there...i wonder if anyone collapsed over at IoA waiting in line....do they have shade in the line?
