because we went to eat at longhorn steakhouse tonite me and dh they give you bread while you wait for your meal and i was already getting full and i ate half a cheese burger he ate half his steak and half a dessert we took the rest home to give to give my ds is 6 and dd10 and she is not a big eatter. I dont want to waste food but if dh and i can share our meal with the kids then why not? After tonite i really don't see all of us eatting and appetizer a meal and a dessert. I dont put my deposit down until next week so i have time to change it.

WHAT DO YOU THINK????? :worried:

Have you thought about sharing your meals. You could space your credits so that maybe you only use 1 adult & 1 child per meal (unless it is a buffet). This worked out great for us. We ended up basically having enough credits to eat 3 meals a day.

We did the DP in Nov. and loved it!! We don't normally eat like that either. We rarely order appetizers and never have dessert, but since it is vacation we thought why not?? I just really enjoyed getting to try everything, whether I could eat it all or not. It is a LOT of food!! I always see these wonderful desserts and appetizers on the menu and never get to try them. Since it is vacation we just splurged!!!

Do you think you saved money using the plan or could i save money and food just sharing with the kids?? Any more help would be greatly appreciated. ::MinnieMo

You have to decide for yourself. I wouldn't buy the dining plan, not for a weeks stay certainly. But it is a value for many people who do eat every day like that. Do you want to eat table service every day? Character breakfasts wouldn't be worth it, IMHO, on the dining plan - you'd want to at least get a nice lunch or dinner in each day. If you think you might just want to do counter service, than it probably isn't worth it.

My dinner would be the nicest thing to wind up the day. I would want my kids to have a least one good meal for the day. Normally our biggest meal is dinner.

THANKS SO MUCH TO ALL WHO REPLYED :goodvibes

Well i just tried pricing our menus that i have planned out like we are not getting the dining plan and we are already at $1007.98 and i still have two more meals to plan at universal studios and island of adventures. so i believe we are going to keep the dining plan. THANKS GUYS!!!

For us it was worth it, we shared a lot of meals - that way we had credits to try the 2TS meals (like a HoopdeDoo, or Calif. Grille) we had quite a few Character meals (1900 Park fare, CRT, LTT) so it became cost effective for us as well - we also shared the CS meals for lunch, and that way we got a CS meal to share for every breakfast!!

You don't HAVE to order everything that's included with the plan.

My son and I used the plan last April. We started out ordering everything since it was included. That was just too much food. :crazy2:
After two meals, we ordered what we knew we would eat. Many times we'd skip dessert or an appetizer. That worked out much better for us.

Even though we didn't max out the plan, it still saved me money. I'm looking forward to using it again this April.

JMHO I think the DDP is a lot of food---

what we do is light breakfast in the room/resort(around 9/10)

some sortof snack drink around 2---

and I main sit down a day between 5 and 7 pm

not to mention we tend to drink lots of fluids so we do not get dehydrated--

I feel the DDE card is the way to go--

JMHO -- no flaming please

is to use 1 cs credit for a breakfast we will all share (2 adults - 2 teens) with perhaps an extra bagel or muffin OOP thrown in. Then, use 2 or 3 cs credits for lunch for the 4 of us and 3 or 4 ts credits for dinner each night (we love sit down dinners). All credits are ADULT so no child vs. adult issues. We will use credits based on how much food we want at any given meal. I expect we will use most of the credits and what we don't use, I will try to use as a nice surprise for someone else or just leave them. I look at the plan as a way to further reduce my vacation stress level. Just order what you want!!

I enjoyed using the dining plan with dh this summer; but I don't think I'd get it again. It was too much food. I mean I think we saved money based on the meals we ate; however, we probably would have had more cs had we not been on the plan. Also, I like being able to order what I want instead of worrying if it is on the plan.
