Recomment a restaurant for me

Me, DW, DD7 and DS4 will be at WDW June 4-9. We'll mainly be doing CS meals, but want to pick out a couple of TS meals as well.

I've looked over the various restaurant profiles, and am having trouble picking anything of the TS variety out. Thought you folks might give me a hand.

We're looking for something with a unique dining environment, something unlike the restaurants back home. That said, we're also not much into fancy cuisine. I'm pretty much a steak & french fires or chicken strips & french fries kind of guy. That super-fancy stuff turns me off.

Also, we're traveling with two small kids, who tend to be pretty picky. We're not adverse to trying non-American cuisine, providing there is something on the menu the kids will like.

So that's the criteria. Any recommendations?

I would try the Trail's End Buffeteria or the Whispering Canyon Cafe. You will probably enjoy either.

Definitely try Boma. It is a buffet w/ a little bit of everything while still being unique. DH usually gets the Prime Rib. DS gets chicken strips. I try a little bit of most things. The atmosphere and the CMs are very friendly. Most of the CMs are from Africa.

We loved the Biergarten in Epcot. Our kids really enjoyed watching the show, and the food was awesome. It was a nice surprise for us, we weren't expecting much and now we plan on going back.

With kids of that age, I would suggest a Character Meal! A couple of my family's favorites are Liberty Tree Tavern in MK or the Garden Grill in Epcot. You could also try the Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey's. Liberty Tree Tavern and Garden Grill are served family-style (large platters of food are brough to your table, and it is all-you-care-to-eat) and have very "normal" food, something for everyone. The Liberty Tree Tavern is set in a colonial-themed restaurant, the Garden Grill is a rotating restaurant (very unique) with views of The Land attraction. Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's are both buffets.

I suggest Sci Fi! burgers and fries, and you sit in a car at a drive in. the food is actually really good IMO. also you may want to try Whispering Canyon Cafe at the WL. it has some fun antics and good good. I also think a character meal would be fun. Crystal palace and 1900 Park fare are my favorites! good luck!

I would either pick a character meal, Sci-Fi at MGM or 'Ohana at the Poly.
Any one of those would offer you meat and potatoes type foods and the atmosphere would be unique and truly "Disney" As far as the character meals go I like LTT dinner for a non buffet meal or Chef Mickeys.

Ohana at the Poly. Great food, great service and great experience. Plus you can check out the Poly and watch the fireworks from the beach.

Chef Mickey's has lots of choices and characters--very Disney.

'Ohana (for dinner) has good, basic food, and a fun Disney atmosphere in a family oriented silly way. And if the kids do not like 'Ohana food, they can get regular chicken strips or other kid fare from Kona next door. My son won't eat meat, so he had grilled cheese with fries brought over for him.

And both places are on the Monorail line so they're super easy to get to.

My kids favorite places are the Biergarten, Alfredos , or the Coral Reef in EPCOT, Crystal Palace in MK, and SciFi at the Studios. They're not big into the character meals, but do like the one at Crystal Palace. They get a big kick out of sitting in the cars and watching the movies at the SciFi. They also love watching the show at the Biergarten and the fish at the Coral Reef.

DD11 also likes Chefs de France, but that's because she likes lobster bisque and they serve it there. However, if i remember correctly, Coral Reef also had it this past trip.

DS7 especially loved watching the fish at Coral Reef this past trip. Anything that keeps the kids entertained is a very good thing!
