Recommended Rain Gear?

We arrive late next week and right now the forecast has rain for our first 2 days. Anyone have any recommended "all day" rain gear? Or a recommended rainy day approach to the parks? I am determined that it won't keep us from the parks but want to make us as comfortable as possible. TIA!!

Frogg Toggs if you’re cheap like me. I’m sure they make better stuff, but it’s good enough for the price.

Bring your own ponchos so you don't pay for the expensive park ones. Lightweight/quick dry clothes for when you do eventually get wet. Water proof shoes that are comfortable to walk around in (and extra socks if relevant). Some waist area storage like a fanny pack, shoulder bag or deep pockets, so you can keep your stuff easily accessible. I usually have a backpack on and it's a pain to get that on and off underneath the poncho, so have a way to access the things you'll need constantly like phone, wallet, tickets

We usually buy some ponchos from Walmart before any trips as they are about $1 and are folded up small enough in the packaging that they can even fit in your pocket so you can just pull it out when needed. Lines might get longer, but if there is an extra extended period of rain one day I'd recommend hitting Studios then as most of the attractions there are indoors (including the queues) whereas IoA has more outdoor attractions that would get you wet or even close due to the weather. Though if you do get fairly wet at some point from the rain, that might be a good time to get your fill of the water rides in which are all nearby each other at IoA as well.

I prefer carrying a small umbrella in my crossbody bag. It’s a UV blocker umbrella so it’s also nice for portable shade when it’s brutally hot out. (Not that it should be high heat this time of year though necessarily.)

Studios has many indoor shows and rides if it’s an all day rain. It doesn’t look terrible as of now though on the weather app for end of next week. It could change several times.

We arrive next Friday, I'm only seeing showers for that day!
Also we purchased Disney ponchos many years ago and pack them for every trip, did you know if a Disney poncho rips they will replace it free of charge?

It depends on the rain. Light rain I would just bring a thin packable rain jacket. My husband and I wear quick dry shorts/skorts (well, I wear the skorts, he doesn't) so we don't mind getting a little wet. If it's light rain my husband and kids won't even wear any rain gear.

When we went in November Hurricane Nicole(?) hit and it was a lot of rain and wind, so we all bought the Universal ponchos because they cover so much more and they were worth it! I always bring the $1 clear plastic ponchos for the water rides because I hate walking around wet but they really aren't the best during hurricane rain because they don't cover your arms or hold up great against wind. It was colder too so I had a hoodie on and the Universal ones cover the arms. The cheap plastic ones don't so my sleeves would get wet.

I have used the cheaper ones for regular rain and they weren't terrible but I preferred the larger, more durable one for heavy rain. They also cover waist packs and backpacks better than just a rain jacket.

You also need the right shoes. Crocs or Keans or anything that can get wet and dry quickly are the best.

Amazon sells water proof nylon ponchos that have work well in the parks and are somewhat
breathable. Cut patterns & colors & come in nice, small zippered carry bag.

They have them in sizes for adults to children. Not much more than what you‘d pay in the park, last go-round paid $21 for one. Price varies from one seller/another & color choice

Have worn in July & August as comfortably as it’s going to get that time of year in the parks. They are nowhere near as hot & sweaty as the park ones get!

I second the suggestion of fanny packs. We're coming a few days after you for our first Universal visit, and we got fanny packs for our whole party since (I've heard) some rides ban backpacks but allow securely-fastened fanny packs (they have to have 3-prong buckle). Our strategy is put the emergency poncho, phone, etc., in the fanny packs and skip the lockers for those rides! Note, some of the more intense coasters like Velocicoaster won't allow them—nothing in your pockets, no fanny packs, no nothing.

Meanwhile, I think we'll miss the rain, but personally if I were facing a full day of rain, I'd go for quick-drying clothes (hiking wear is probably good), paired with an extremely lightweight rain jacket that can be stuffed in a backpack/locker when it clears up. I have one made for running that's extremely packable. And personally, I know of no misery worse than wet feet, so I'd pack several changes of socks, preferably a wool blend, in ziplock bags, or maybe just wear sandal-type shoes, perhaps with closed toes.

I agree with all that's been said, but wanted to emphasize SHOES!!! Wet soggy socks and shoes are the worst, and just never get dry!

I usually rock some EVA Birkenstocks or Native sandals, while my husband prefers Keens. My kiddos both have the Native sneaker-type shoes that have worked well for them. Something with ventilation that will allow your feet to dry out (and hopefully avoid socks) are a must for me!
