I just watched a bit of the infomercial for Turbo Jam ( I know... you'd think I would have something better to do at 6:45 am on a Saturday!). It looks like a good work out.... probably even too much for me, but I suppose I could work up to the full work out. But I wasn't too impressed with the background music (at least not the little bit I heard). Anyone have any of these videos (the infomercial was offering about 6 videos and a few "free" extras with free shipping for about $60) ?? Do you enjoy them? How is the music? I wouldn't enjoy rap or hip hop.

I've heard a few folks here mention the Jillian Michael workout video. Anyone want to share their experiences with it? What kind of music does it have? Can I see a sample of it anywhere? Is there more than one?

I'm trying to think ahead to the summer. DD will be done with swim team for the season so we won't be going to the YMCA regularly. My treadmill gets very boring. I am considering looking into a Curves membership for DD and myself for the summer (just July and August). If I recall, my local Curves offered a free daughter membership when Mom signed up last summer. I'm hoping they will offer that again.

Anyhow, does anyone have a good workout video(s) to recommend? Thanks in advance...........................P

A while back there was a thread with many who were doing the FIRM. I have a friend who lost quite a lot while using those and swears by that program.

I'm wondering if the library might offer a variety of exercise cds that might help you pick a program.

I'm thinking anything that gets you moving would work.

If that program for $60 has a variety of cds, well maybe. It just depends on the level of difficulty and if you will ever get to use the others. If there is a "free trial" period, maybe. I'm just leary that once they get you it is difficult to break away.

I have been doing the Walk Away The Pounds dvds this year, and I really love them. There are many of them, 1-4 miles, each mile being about 15 minutes, and they are a walk aerobics class, and you are on your feet the whole time moving. Some use hand weight, but it more about calorie burning and moving than weight training. (at least the ones I've done.)

Comcast digital cable on demand has some free exercise videos, and thats where I found them.

The library is a good idea to get a feel for the tapes before you invest in them, or even a video store to rent them.

Thanks for the feedback. My library is useless for exercise DVDs. I live in a small town with a small library....oh well. And our local video rental store doesn't carry exercise DVDs either. But I should check out the "free on demand" exercise stuff that DISH network offers. Guess I gotta ask DH how that works. Regular swim season for DD has ended for the year and Spring training doesn't start until 4/14, so I have four weeks where I won't be going to the Y regularly, so I need something at home besides the boring treadmill. Thanks again........................P

I just wanted to let you know that I have tried turbo jam, and I love it. I have so many exercise dvd's and this is the only one that I can stick to. I have fallen off the wagon many times, but this is the one that I start up with again. I can't dance, and have no rhythm. She teaches the core moves and you do learn them. Even with the learn and burn you are still getting a great work out. I think if you try them you won't be disappointed. One last thing it does work, you will see results fast IF you exercise 3-4 times a week at least and just eat right. Even if you don't diet you will still see results just not as fast. If you have any questions let me know I will be glad to answer them.

I agree with OP about the "Walk Away the Weight" DVDs by Leslie Sansone. I have 2 of them and lost over 4 in. around the middle the first 3 weeks. I did try Turbo Jam and The Firm and I'm just too uncoordinated for them. I am rapidly pushing 50 yrs. old, and just can't keep up with those high energy young-ins. I plan on ordering a new "Walk Away" DVD.....and have found some good deals on half.com!!
There is no bad workout DVD...unless it just sits on the shelf!!

I was thinking of ordering the Turbo Jam, but I did some searching for other videos first and found that My Comcast On Demand tv service had some really good workouts for FREE. If you have Comcast TV service check it out. I have been doing the different workouts for about 2 weeks and I they are working. Best thing they are free!

I tried Turbo Jam too and love it--great workout and fun too. I seem to have the same problem watching those early morning infomercials and now I just bought 10 minute trainer by Tony Horton. Oh my--you wouldn't think that in 10 minutes you could be dripping in sweat but these workouts are intense. I'm not a great fan of long exercise videos--can never find the time--so these work out great. I can do 1,2 or 3 workouts depending on how much time I have. Comes with 5 10-minute workouts and 1 bonus longer one.

lol I know this is an old one but I lost 25 pounds using Sweating to the Oldies:rotfl: I like the music and Richard Simmons is such a hyper dork he makes me laugh! It goes by pretty fast and gave me wonderful results;)
