We have an Olympus C4000 that takes wonderful pictures but is larger than I would like. We just bought a Nikon 5600 yesterday but so far I am not impressed with the video and the picture quality.

I want to stay under 200.00. A 4MP or a 5MP.

Any ideas?

Wow...I have a Nikon 5600 and I LOVE mine. We were on the May Repositioning cruise and my Nikon 35 mm died on day 2 of our 14 day cruise due to the humidity so I ended up having to purchase a digital camera while onboard. DCL stocked a couple different digital cameras but I ended up purchasing the Nikon 5600. While I have not used the video I am extremely pleased with the picture quality of the camera. I must add that where you have your photos developed does make a difference as well. Some of my pictures I had printed on the ship came out very dark but when I had them reprinted at home for my scrapbook they came out very bright and clear.

I guess everyone has their own preferences but I am extremely pleased with my Nikon 5600 and figure my Nikon 35 mm will be collecting dust due to lack of use.

I love my Canon A310 which I bought a couple weeks ago for approx. $195.00. So easy to use and great pictures imho. Unfortunately, only 3.2 mp but it works for me.

I'm also looking for a digital camera as well and not really sure what to get. Any opinions on the kodak cameras???

Never touch a Kodak. I've made the mistake of actually bought TWO Easyshare cameras (I gave Kodak two chances) and both of them really suck in terms of bang for the buck. That's why Canon is the number 1 digital camera seller in the world with Nikon a close second (or is it the other way round). Kodak is the number 1 digital camera seller only in North America. (I hope I have the correct information)

Regardless, there is a very good reason that Kodak is no longer in the professional digital photography market. Although their camera priced the lowest amongst any other similarly featured pro digital camera on the market... the picture quality is not up to par.

I had a KodakEasyShare and I too think it was crappy. I now have a Sony CyberShot (of Rockin' Roller Coaster's Steven Tylers fame - he did a commercial for them) and I love it. It is skinny and lightweight, fits in your pocket or back pack easily. I use a Palm Pilot slim case to keep it in. It is slightly padded, but doesn't add a lot of bulk inside your bag. It takes GREAT pictures and movies. It is the best camera I have ever had and I have had a few. I got it for Christmas so I am not sure the cost, I am guessing between $200-300, but you will never need another camera. Now if I ever see Steven Tyler near the Rockin' Roller Coaster I will for sure be able to whip that tiny camera out of my pocket and take a picture of him!

We just bought a CanonA520 and I LOOOOOVE it! I went into the store and said "I want a good digital camera with that is easy to operate and takes great pictures" and he showed me the a couple different ones and I really liked this one. It was about $250.00 but you can find it online I'm sure for less. It's got a good zoom on it and the lcd screen is crystal clear.
Good Luck!

Can't wait til Sept 19!!! :teeth:

I'm looking for a new ULTRACOMPACT digital camera too. I've heard a lot of good stuff about the Canon PowerShot SD line (SD300-4mp, SD400-5mp, SD500-7.1mp). Does anyone have any feedback for these cameras?
