On our first day we plan on arriving early, NOT using our Park Entry but rather exploring our resort (POFQ), having brunch then heading off (by water ferry) for a few hrs in DisneyQuest (opens at 11:30) then Chef Mickey's around 5-6pm

Before experiencing the DQ excitement, I'd like a meal to hold us over til CM's. Without traveling outside of the general area (Port Orleans, Old Key West, Saratoga Springs,DTD) what would you suggest for the best use of the counter service credit?

Saratoga has a lovely CS place, so does POFQ. Both have large portions and you'd be happy with either.

We love the pizza at Wolfgang Puck's in DTD, a great use of CS! If you want to eat at POR the create your own pasta is really good, love making it with pesto sauce, shrimp, sundried tomatoes!

The create your own pasta sounds good. We'll be staying at SS and will be doing CS there once or twice...but maybe we could take the ferry over to POR and do this. What restaurant is this at? Can you tell me more about it? My husband is a huge fan of pasta. Is it a quick service or table service credit?

I think Wolfgang Puck Express in the Marketplace is hands down the best CS place on property. The food is of a higher quality IMO than the resort's CS & they bring your food to you & anything else you need once seated. The pizzas, pastas & meatloaf entree are excellent!

These recommendations are exactly what I'm looking for.

My family likes to know ahead of time what's good at the places I put on our itinerary.
:scared1:
Sooo much pressure (LOL) That's to disboards, I'm usually very good at my "job" as "Disneyworld tour director" for our family! :rotfl:

I have teenagers....I have also stayed at port orleans....for sure I would recommend wolfgang pucks....we go there at least 3 times during a trip....In fact we will probably eat here first in August...If you eat there you should be fine for until CM. Another favorite of my kids is Earl of Sandwich...The portions there are also big but nothing like wolfgang pucks....Another idea is POR food court....While I still would recommend wolfgang's it is a decent food court and even offers make your own pasta which my son loves.

I noticed OKW was in your initial range, and I just wanted to say don't go for counter service over there. OKW is our favorite resort, but the CS is lacking. Olivia's on the other hand is reasonably good, but it's a TS. You have received some good recommendations already. Have fun!

I too would recommend going to Riverside Mill at POR and getting the make-your-own pasta. It is plenty to share, as well, so you don't fill up too much!

I very highly recommend Earl of Sandwich in DownTown :woohoo: They bake the rolls fresh for each sandwich and it makes them incredibly yummy :yay: There is a boat from POFQ to DownTown and it is a marvelous way to travel :dance3:
