Hi we are looking at taking a trip the end of Feb for Walt Disney World, and was wondering the cheapest/best way to book from NB ..do you go to Maine or are there good last minute deals out of the Maritimes? Right now we are booked on a bus tour @ 555 pp..there are 4 of us(bus and hotel) but someone wants to buy our tickets, (which makes me happy because 36 hrs on a bus is not my thing), and we would like to be able to get something comparable in price.
If anyone has any ideas please don't be shy.:santa:
Thanks a bunch!!

Thanks a bunch!!

The cheapest airfare from the US I could find a few weeks ago was approx $84 + taxes etc. one way from AirTran out of Portland. For 4 of us it amounted to approx $900 US. That sounded pretty good to me. However, I continued to search for good prices. When Westjet and AC had their 50% discounts offered when you booked before Dec 22nd, the prices from Moncton was approx $2000 CDN.

Now at the surface, the flight from Portland was looking pretty good. Then I considered 1 day additional to drive to Portland, 7 hours driving, meals and hotel (park/fly) + the same on the way home. I estimated another $500 US not considering the additional 2 days of vacation I would have to use up.

$1400 US = approx $1700 Cdn.

So, is $300 Cdn worth it to drive 14 hours and use up 2 additional vacation days? For me , NO. The convenience of flying from my hometown is worth more than $300.

I will continue to check up on flights.

I did find some fantastic prices from Transat Holidays website for January flying from Halifax ....approx $250 each RETURN. That's an awesome price.....$1000 for the 4 of us. However, I don't want to go to Disney in January and waiting to see what is offered from Disney in August-September as well what the airlines might offer up in discounts in the New Year.

I searched and searched. I'm up north in Edmundston and the least expensive plane tickets we could get was from Bangor for 2200$USD for 4 of us. I checked out F'ton, Moncton, Montreal and pretty much every airport in a 7 hour radius. :surfweb: The next least expensive was over 3000$ +!

63 days and counting!:cool1:

I use www.kayak.com to compare prices from different airports and different hotels you should be able to find something for around 555 pp for 4 . Bangor and Halifax were about the same $ ( Fredericton and Moncton were way to much )and Portland was about $ 200 cheaper if you post dates and what type of hotel and were you want to stay i might beable to help you further
.

Wow, thanks everyone! CAJS we are in Bathurst, so i know the feeling!

tribus, we would like to leave either 27,28 of Feb or best option March 1st. We'd probably drive as far as Bangor, unless there is one heck of a deal out of Portland. As for hotel, we'd like to be on I-Drive, and with the bus tour we were staying at Plaza Inn? Nothing fancy..We aren't TOO concerned about hotel, as long as it's not near some major prostitution ring or anything..lol..

All this info is very helpful thanks so much. If it was up to me we'd be taking the kiddies to Cuba,( I'm not big on crowds,) as that's more up my alley, but can't convince them otherwise...gee wonder why?? lol..

1. If I were you, I would look into staying in a value resort on site at WDW. You are eligible for the pay for 4 nights, get 3 free deal plus the $200 free gift card. It might work out to being cheaper than staying offsite. I know for us, it breaks down to about $45/night at Pop Century.

2. If you are willing to rent a car during your stay or pay for some form of ground transportation when you get there, you can get some great deals out of Bangor with Allegiant Air. That's who we are using to fly back from Florida at the end of January and we got our flight for $99/person. (I wanted to add that the parking fees at the Bangor airport are very reasonable.)

I don't know the full details of your party but I did a quick search on their website for you and found that for one adult it's $139 to fly down on February 27th and $289 to fly back on March 6th.

If you are able to fly down the week before, you get an even better deal. For one adult, it costs $99 to depart on February 19th and $139 to return on February 27th.

If you would like to stay onsite at WDW using Their Pay for 4 get 3 free promotion it would come to approx 4320 cdn taxes in US air from Bangor this includes 7 day Disney tickets and a $200 Disney gift card . all booked right through Disney travel And by staying at WDW get to use Disney's free Magic express to and from Orlando airport and resort transportation to and from parks .

Thanks a bunch!!

AirTran has a $25.00 discount off fares until Jan 2nd and I see one way fares from Portand to Orlando for $84.00 so total with discount after taxes one way would be $58.00. You have to sign up on their website and they will send you the coupon that you can use when booking. I just booked return from Pittsburgh to FortMyers for $335.00 for 5 people using 10 coupons. You need a separate email address for each coupon. Example if booking for 4 people then book your southbound reservation first using 4 coupons and get $100.00 off. Then do a second reservation northbound for 4 people and get another $100.00 discount.
