I wanted to get some makeup for my dd who is 10. It is for fun only - no wearing outside the house.

I really hate buying those kids sets because of all the chemicals in them. Can anyone recommend any brand of natural/organic/safe makeup that is not too expensive?

I bought my 10 (almost 11) year old a makeup set for Xmas for the same reason. She is dying to "play" with makeup (not allowed to wear it anywhere).

I opted for ELF cosmetics. Fairly cheap and gets decent toxicity reviews- no animal cruelty, etc.

Thanks for the feedback. I will look for this. I think I've seen it at Marshalls or TJ Maxx, so that would probably be even less expensive.

Target sells ELF. They also have gift sets of many different colored eye shadows etc, all for less than $10.

DD has been playing with makeup for a little while. She mostly gets my leftovers, and I have told her that the summer before she goes to middle school (next summer), we will let someone give her a makeover and purchase good makeup for every day wear. So, her makeup is a hodgepodge of Clinique and ELF. My rule of thumb is that we use Clinique for anything that goes directly on our faces - foundation, concealer, etc., but I occasionally pick up ELF powder, blush, or eye makeup.

We had a lot of fun placing an order from ELF last night - they are doing 50% off orders over $30 (plus free shipping) today. You can get lots of stuff from them for $30!
