No wraps or anything that may make me feel closed in. Has anyone tried a facial? How about the alpha capsule?

Recommendations?

Hi Pugdog007.

Recommendations for Spa Virgin

The Shirley Temple Massage (they touch you, but they don't mean anything by it... ).

Actually, you might want to try the Elemis Absolute Face And Body Treatment. It is beyond terrific...

BD -- you are TOO much sometimes! LOL

Try the Spa Taster. I've never had anything more than manicure/pedicure and this was a great first treatment!

Don't miss the Rain Forest. For more info see my trip report about it. It is inexpensive and wonderful! You are on your own, no pressure to buy anything, just wonderful warmth and relaxation.
Don't be afraid to try a massage though- the people are pros at maintaining your modesty at all times. They know some people are nervous or uncomfortable and will quickly put you at ease.
I hate facials because- well because I hate people in my face! Takes my breath away somehow!
Take a deep breath and take the plunge! After all- you're only a "virgin" once!
Enjoy.

Definitely the spa taster and add on the rain forest for only $8.

Perfect for a newbie, be warned you will get hooked!!!

if you go to Barb's web site, i think that she has lots of info about the spa, and actual pictures of the rainforest room...

I love the Alpha Capsule - it's very relaxing, warm, scented with lavender and the great CD "Time to Spa"! The Capsule was having major problems this time (I took the 3 sessions for $99) and the Steiner Spa person said that it needed a new part because it was "cutting out" and "acting weird". Okay. Teaches me a lesson here to take one session and see how things go before signing up for all 3!
But it is a favorite of mine.
As was the hydrotherapy bath, now a massage room.

The Rainforest has always been a big favorite of both me and my Mom (74) - BUT this past cruise when we took a week's pass - $50.00 each for the entire 7 nights, we were very disappointed. Many, MANY problems with the plumbing, the saunas breaking down, etc., etc. Unfortunately, the staff isn't Disney, but Steiner and you can tell the difference when you have a concern. I do NOT recommend a week pass anymore for that reason.

Previous massages and facials were very nice. I use a lot of their products and like to get them on ship (tax and shipping free!)

Too bad Disney doesn't take it over and run it the way they do the rest of the ship.

Tell me more about the Rainforest! I've never done this one.

I agree with Rae 100%....I absolutely LOVE the Alpha Capsule. If I could afford it...I'd do it every day of the cruise. Dh and I also
love the Rainforest and have never been on a cruise where there were mechanical problems...so far.

I also love the foot and ankle massage..however, I've found that at the Nail Spa I go to...with the absolute pedicure...you get a foot and ankle massage..so I might check out a pedicure next time..and see if they do the same thing on the ship.

I don't do facials because I have very very very very oily skin and it only seems to make it worse. But thats just me and mine..

So, just enjoy,
Phyllis

We have photos of the Rainforest on our website. I think that hubby would live in there if he could.
For those who might be interested in the wrap but are afraid of feeling confined and claustrophic: One of the spa attendants told me that when she does a seaweed wrap on someone like that, she has a way of wrapping it that is much less confining but still allows you to have the experience. I'm not sure if it was just her or if they will all do that, but it never hurts to ask when you are doing your bookings. I love that treatment...it feels soooooo detoxifying! I think I'm going to try for two on our upcoming cruise.

The Rainforest has several heated ceramic lounge chairs that are wonderfully positioned in front of a fountain that changes color. There is soft music playing (Time to Spa CD) and there are two moist heat saunas (eucalyptus and chamomile), and one dry heat one with a ceramic couch on the walls. There are three showers (one is a regular one, one is a mist shower with aromatherapy and the second is similiar to a rain fall - they have faucets on the sides along with overhead). There is place for ice (not edible) and a water fountain. There is a tea service outside the Rainforest so you can have a nice hot cup of tea while you relax.

When you give them your KTTW Card, you get a basket with a bathrobe and a key. Prior to the Norwalk Virus, you also received shower shoes - now you need to bring your own. There are abundant towels and laundry bins to put the used ones in.

The Rainforest has a weeklong pass for $50; a daily rate of $15 or if you have a treatment that same day, $8.

The womens dressing room has lockers, bathrooms, a dry sauna, two showers and a few cloth recliners. Also music is playing.

Vista Spa is beneath the basketball court - talk about a major design flaw and when the court is busy, there is a lot of overhead noise that you can try to filter out while you rest.

As for the other treatments, the sea wrap is great, the spa taster is very good, and the foot massage is to die for - especially when she uses the Instant Refreshing Gel!

Thanks, Rae. I think I'm going to try this in December. Just one more thing to look forward to.

If you are interested in a more personal report about the rain forest read my trip report titled "a day in a caribbeean rain forest" Put that together with Raes response and you'll be convinced! I loved this place!

Jeanne - come back to the Magic!!!!!!!!!!!

And bring Bonnie!

I can only pray to return someday Rae! As I finsh up my trip reports I feel a little melancholy. I want to go back!!! Waaaaahhhhh take me back! But there are still a few more trip report pages to do- Saturdays disembarkation and the great surprise waiting there! I also will have to do a few more reports on things that just got left out of the original seven (or is it 8?) pages. I know I know- hard to believe that anything could have gotten left out after all those words eh?! But there are a few more things I want to remember and or comment on. Like the whole Disney Philosophy and disney Dreams Show and the hairbraiders and and and. So sorry folks- there will be more posts coming before I am done!

Jeanne434 - at least you didn't tell everyone how I took the luggage rack off my van at the Indy airport with their clearance bar. Ohhhh my, what a way to start a vacation! Van pieces finally came in and it went into the shop yesterday for a 10-14 day vacation from me. My rental is a Malibu and the only things it has common with my Montana are both begin with "M" and are luggage rackless at the present time.

I think we need to go back just to help out any Spa Virgins - sort of give them some "moral" support and "womanly" wisdom!

Rae

Rae, you make the Rain Forest seem so incredible!!! I hope that I am able to at least do that on our cruise. I need 10 minutes now with the way the kids are acting lately. School is out until August now. :(

lbgraves - I have two countdowns started -

69 days til we cruise.
79 days til he goes back to school.

I know exactly what you are talking about.
