Recommendations for Palm Springs on drive home

We will be driving to DLR from Arizona, and we are thinking about breaking up the drive home by spending the night in Palm Springs. We would want a hotel with a good pool for kids, preferably a pool with a sandy play area. Does anyone have any recommendations? Any hints about getting good prices would be appreciated as well.

Los Palmas in Ranch Mirage (next to Palm Springs) has a great pool area called "Splashtopia", they have a small sandy play area. There is also a great lazy river and slide.
