I am now beyond overwhelmed with the options for staying off site near Universal. Can someone please give me some recommendations where to stay OR where NOT to stay?
We are driving in so will have a car. 2 adults 1 child. Tuesday March 4 thru Friday the 7th. I am confused as to what is an Universal off site partner hotel and which ones are an Universal Destination hotel. (info I read somewhere else)

Where have you stayed within 2-3 miles without spending 200.00/night?

Usually look for free parking, breakfast and internet. I have no issue driving to Universal so does not need to be in walking distance... If there is a shuttle, ok; if not ok...

We've stayed in the Rosen several times and we really like it. The staff are friendly - especially the bellhop and the rooms are newly refurbished (in the past year or so).

If you use this hotel ask for a high floor, pool side at the I4 end and you'll be able to see the disney fireworks from your hotel room.

Have a great time.

We've also stayed in the International Palms and for the same fireworks reason, you need to be in the tower building on a high floor and on the left side near to I4.

Hope this helps.

Homewood Suites Universal is an excellent all suite hotel very close to Universal. Free breakfast, managers reception 4 times a week, lovely rooms and great beds. We haven't stayed for a while but spending first night there this year as using my BA Avios points. Really looking forward to going back. My son is looking forward to the Waffle machine ar breakfast!

Make sure you book the Homewood Suites located at 5893 American Way. There are several Homewood Suites, and this is the one closest to Universal (referenced by the PP above).

Also consider looking at the Fairfield Inn and Suites Orlando Universal located at 5614 Vineland Road. They also offer free breakfast, free parking and free WiFi. My DH is a Marriott member so I had us booked here last year for our trip to Universal after doing extensive research; however, we ending up switching to onsite as we got a great rate at the Royal Pacific. The Fairfield Inn(in addition to the Homewood Suites) gets very good reviews on tripadvisor. Look through the reviews and see which of these two hotels would be the best fit for you.

There's a doubletree (hilton brand) on Kirkman rd. Also in that vacinity is Fairfield inn and suites (marriott brand). Breakfast, free parking, internet and should be way under $200 a night. Also a bunch of other similar hotels in that general area. The best way to see what hotels are where is to pull one up on google maps. All the surrounding hotels should also show up. Stick with the major brand hotels and you shouldnt go wrong.
