Our family will be traveling down along I-95 for two days. Was wondering if anyone could recommend a nice hotel in either SC or Georgia. Thank you in advance.

We have stayed @ Westin Savannah and LOVED it! There are places such as HI along 95 at Hardeeville,S.C. if your'e just looking for quick stop over.

We've driven from NJ a bunch of times. We always spend the nite somewhere in SC or GA. Virtually every exit has a few hotels to choose from. When you enter the state, stop at the Welcome Center and pick up the free magazine listing the hotels and rate specials. Also, when you are nearing your stopping point, start watching the billboards to get an idea of what is coming up.

We've stayed at different places each time because we don't always cover the same distance each trip, but we've never had a bad room anywhere.

We travel down I-95 from New York, and have stayed at the Comfort Inn in Manning, SC a few times. Nice place and a good breakfast. I'd recommend it.

I've stayed at the Country Inn & Suites in Santee, SC - nice room, decent breakfast (included), and the Ramada Inn in Santee (Country Inn was more memorable).

Hope this helps!

I highly recommend Country Inns and Suites. We have stayed in quite a few on the way to Fl. (13 driving trips). They are all faily new, clean and have a nice continental breakfast.

Thanks to all who have responded. It has been very helpful. I've looked somewhat myself and am interested in the Travelodge suites in Pooler, Ga----the Hawthorne Savannah, Ga---- and the Wingate Inn Savannah, Ga. Anyone stay at these and what are some hotels to avoid. Thanks again.

I travel from DC to Orlando twice a year. Some nice places I've stayed are the Country Inn and Suites in Santee, SC (about 7 hours from DC) and the Fairfield Inn in Brunswick, GA (about 10 hours from DC). I didn't end up staying there, but I checked out the Country Inn and Suites and Wingate Inn in Florence, SC (about 6 hours from DC) and both looked nice.

Two bad experiences. First was the Hampton Inn in Savannah. There are several Hampton Inns in the area and I'm not positive which one, but I think it was in Savannah/Pembroke. It seemed like it was converted from another chain and was not up to usual Hampton Inn standards. Outside corridors and cheap, old furnishings. Also didn't care for the Fairfield Inn in Florence. Again, just not up to usual chain standards and had outside corridors and poor furnishings. Noticed a sign on last trip that this Fairfield Inn as "newly renovated" but I still wouldn't recommend it.

I'm a new devotee to Country Inn and Suites and they have many locations along I-95. Should be able to get a rate in the $55-65 range.

I live about 90 miles from Savannah and just to let you know they have a couple of new hotels off of I 95. Skip the travelodge suite in pooler there is a nice holiday inn express and i think a jameson inn directley off I 95. I am not sure the exit number but there are a couple of outlet stores, a harley davidson dealership and fast food at the same exit. There is a great seafood place called the shellhouse inn across the street.

We always stay in Country Inn and Suites. Stayed at the one in Santee and one at one of the first exits in Georgia. These hotels are ALWAYS clean and nice. We also stop at the welcome center and use the coupons in the book and also find the information for each exit very helpful

Thank you to all who have responded. This information has been very helpful. Anyone know if we can use our Entertainment card at any of these hotels? Also, anyone know if there's any newer hotels to check into. Re: Country Inn and suites: about how much do these rooms cost? Thank you again for all your help.

Don't use the Entertainment card so I can't help you there. I know that both Country Inn and Suites and Wingate Inn have some newer hotels along I-95. You should be able to find them using www.usastar.com/logding. Checking this site and the individual sites you should be able to get rates in the $55-70 range for these properties. Might also want to pick up a visitor's guide (or whatever those travel magazines are called) at the state welcome center or a restaurant stop. They sometimes have coupons that you can use at check-in.

We've stayed at 3 Country Inns. The best is Kingsland,GA. It's new, has an indoor pool and near several restaurants (Applebee's is right out front). We pay about $90 per night for a suite. It has a King bed in the bedroom and a pull out in the lr. There is a door between the the 2 rooms.

Lumberton,NC is pretty nice too with the same room layout but no indoor pool.

Florence was a converted Hilton or something. While ok ,was my least favorite and there is no door btween the rooms.

If you go to their website you can book an internet rate in the $50 range if 30 days out.
