Hi!
We are leaving for WDW on Wednesday and I am in the midst of a dilemma.

On Saturday we are planning on going to AK early for the day. We had hoped to get back to our hotel (GF) for a rest, (we have young children) and then head out to MK for Spetromagic (6:30pm) and Wishes (7:30pm). I am trying to figure out where or when to have dinner. We will be a party of 8, including a toddler and an infant. We would prefer not to eat at a counter service restaurant as we plan to do so for lunch in AK.

What are my options, figuring time, transportation. Etc. Also, my Dad is not an adventurous eater so we would need American or Italian fare. Should we have a really big lunch and just counter service for dinner? Thank you for your suggestions.

Lynn

Seeing as you are going to MK why not do the Liberty Tavern. Homestyle with Turkey Ham and Roast Beef. And it is a character dinner.

How about an early meal at the Whispering Canyon Cafe? With 8 people in your party, it should be fun. :)

The Grand Floridian Cafe is nice for a larger party and it has lots of "normal" American foods. I found it to be quick sit down service and very good. It's not the over the top dinners that you can get at CG at the Contemporary, or AP at the Wilderness Lodge, but good for those picky eaters. Since you are going to the MK for Spectro and possibly Wishes, I would eat at the resort like you said, or at another MK resort like the Contemporary or the Poly or the Wilderness Lodge (if you figure in the travel time to get to the Lodge which will be longer than the others cuz it's not on the monorail loop). The other restaurants at the GF will take much longer: V&A's (no kids), Citrico's, and Narcoosee's - all wonderful selections, but may take a while to get food. Allow time. The Poly resort has nice restaurants, but I don't think they will be normal enough for your DF. So that leaves the Contemporary and WL. CG is wonderful, but will take time, and the WCC is a great place for a large party and it has smoked foods that are wonderful and really great entertainment for the kids and adults but just harder to get there. Once dinner is done though, you can hop a boat to the MK from the WL and get there in record time.

If I was you, I would eat at Narcoosee's, then hop a boat to the MK as long as I had a couple hours to dine since that has marvelous selections and is conveniently located by the boat dock. If you had adequate time to travel, I would probably then go to the WCC at the WL, have an entertaining and enjoyable meal, then hop the WL boat to the MK. If you are really short on travel time or dining time because you are planning on staying late at the AK and you really want sit down, I would opt for the GFC at the GF, then take the monorail to MK. This will give you a wide selection of foods, a sit down dinner, and it is more casual and quick, yet you are conveniently located by the transportation. Hope this helps.

Forgot to mention. A PP suggested LTT which is nice. Eating at the MK would be another option. Then you are already there, and don't have to stress about getting there in time.
