Recommendations for best time to visit in early 2020?

So, for reasons I won’t bore you with, my husband and I are probably delaying our couples only trip until early 2020. 😭 (There's still a glimmer of hope for October but ... not holding my breath!) Anyhow, if that happens, I’m struggling to pinpoint a new target date, especially since hotel costs can’t be taken into account until 2020 reservations open.

We typically visit DLR in Sept., Oct. and Nov., so I have no idea when the best times to visit are in Jan., Feb. and March. Crowd calendar data seems all over the map. And I know weather, spring breaks and referbs are factors to consider. Any recommendations or thoughts, keeping in mind that RotR opens in January too AND Galaxy’s Edge is our top priority?

As background, we plan to stay onsite and will visit mid-week.

Thanks in advance for the help!

The last time we visited was March 2017. The weather was perfect - high 70's/low 80's during the middle of the day and 60's in the AM & PM. Crowds were really manageable and we didn't miss any rides. We went during a spring break week and didn't feel overwhelmed at any point.

Have you looked into DCA Food & Wine Festival? If you’re interested in that it tends to be in March.

We went a few years ago in March and it was great. It was towards the tail end of the food and wine festival. My brother-in-law is a bit of a foodie so he enjoyed the festival. It was nice a cool outside, it did rain twice while in the parks but for not very long. And at night the crowds where really manageable and wait times were down. During the first parade run at night most of the rides where walk ons.

I was under the impression the F&WF brought in TONS of crowds so, unless food was the priority, we'd be better off skipping. Sounds like that might not be the case.

We went in that first week of March (right before the spring break season). While it was fairly busy, we still were able to do everything we wanted. The only bummer was that some of the rides were Down (splash mountain) etc

Also the tempatures were in the upper 70s, so the weather was great

We are going Feb 28 to March 6th. We are hoping for the best. We usually go in Oct or November so will be interesting to see how crowd levels are in comparison.

We used to plan our 5 day trips for an arrival during last week in February. The weather was usually cool-ish and the crowds were low. The trade-off is, of course, refurbs. There were usually some rides closed and either Splash or Grizz was always down but with the weather we really didn't mind.

Thanks for all the insights! I officially cancelled our October trip and really appreciate the recommendations.

So far, it looks like March is the winner. I'm just a little concerned since last March was incredibly rainy in Northern California. Several "pineapple expresses" came through the area, grounding planes at SAC with localized flooding. I'll have to research if the crazy weather impacted SoCal as well.

There was a rainy day the previous week before we got there, temps were in the 70’s and low 80s. This was the first week of March.

We've gone multiple times the last week-ish of February and have had generally positive results. I've planned our next trip for the same time next year.

Well, my mother-in-law generously offered to watch our kiddo for a few days/nights in November ... so now our trip has been moved up. Thank you all for the advice! Much, much appreciated! (Off to the November Check-In thread!)
