I just got a 2BR at BCV for Sept 2011 through an RCI trade. I've never been to WDW so am unfamiliar with the layout and proximity of the resorts. I DO know I got a great trade!

Players (and ages at time of trip): Me, DH, DDs (9, 6, 4) and DS (2)

I'm assuming that a 2BR trade would be a dedicated 2BR since they'd get more money if they traded a 1BR lockoff and studio lockoff (but I guess I could end up with a lock off room at check in...)

Anyways, what kind of requests can (or should) I make? I'd love an Epcot facing view (which floor?), but I'd also prefer not to have to hike all that far to get to the parks and Stormalong Bay (are Epcot view rooms further away or closer to the main walkway?). We have a 2nd week at SSR so we will mainly be concentrating on DHS, Epcot and things in the area of BC & BW that first week.

It's a rather small resort and is not known for the views. Pool/water/parking lot vs garden/woods/road/overgrown area.

I requested "close to transportation." Our room was 203, facing the courtyard between BC and BCV. This room was in a great location, very close to getting out of the building and into the parks/over to buses/over to SB. It is a small resort so it's really not going to make too much of a difference where you are, IMO. Any location would not have an awesome view, as all you're really seeing on Epcot side is the higher fireworks from Illum and that's only if you're on the upper 2 floors.

I also have younger children like you (age 1 and 5) and they LOVED just hanging out on the balcony and people watching. If you're on the woods side that faces EP, then not too much foot traffic over there.

bcv only has 25 dedicated with 2 queen beds - so doubt you got one of these

the other have in the second bedroom queen bed and double sleeper sofa.

at least BCV has dedicated 2-bedroom, BWV only has dedicated studios & 1-bedroom.

I will give my opinion (as unpopular as it is) while BCV is "small" it is not close in the sense of most hotel style resorts. The DVC building is running perpendicular to the Hotel building, so if you are at the back of that building near the elevators it is a decent walk to get to the lobby/pool/paths to the resorts, etc. Yes, most of the walk is indoors and if you are near the main elevators it is pretty close to those things.

We ended up the furthest away and it took as long to get to the pool as it does from grandstand to the main pool at SSR. It didn't ruin our trip, but completely took me off guard and no one seems to mention that much on the boards.

As for view, there is no real "epcot view", you can face the woods/trees and back of the Epcot buildings. Upper floors can get a view of the fireworks, but I am not sure of the room numbers or in and outs of what request should be made.

I agree. We had that long walk - and it was LONG. To make it shorter, we cut across the courtyards - either by the community pool or through the garden. So we were outside. And it did rain. But that walk was a LOT longer than we expected.

We did have a lovely view of Spaceship Earth and the Illuminations fireworks - and the road that runs back there. We called in the road view and could hear trucks all vacation. Balcony was useless and you could see straight into our room from the road, so the curtains were shut.

I never really requested a room at BCV but I always hope I'll get a room near the end of the hall on the way to BCV stores and the EPCOT trail. If you look at the map at the link above I like the rooms near room 101 as I think it would be a convenient walk to EPCOT from there as you can just walk out the stairwell onto the trail. I never remember to request that room until we get there and I want to closer to that area. But if I remember correctly you cannot use the stairwell to get back into your unit and you must go through the main doors. So, it would only be an easy walk when leaving the resort. I'm sure somebody will come along and correct me if I'm wrong. We've stayed at BCV 3 times and every time we have gotten the exact same view of EPCOT/road view. I never request anything here because the views aren't that great.

Thanks everyone! I think I've decided on these requests in order:

1) NOT first floor (I hate snakes!!!)
2) Facing Quiet pool
3) Close to transportation

I'm excited just to stay there, so as long as I don't have a "visitor" (see #1) then I'm GOOD!!!

I would request "high floor". They may look at your requests and just see "first floor".
