Recommendations for a rice cooker?

A 3 quart instant pot can double over as a rice cooker. 3 mins high pressure for white rice. 10 min natural release. Perfect every time.

This.

I have a Crockpot Express brand cooker.

Perfect rice everytime. My college kids taught me this.

We make rice this way several times a week

I just have a small Zojirushi rice cooker that makes about 4 cups of cooked rice. I was using my Instapot. That works too, but it was just too big to be pulling out of the cabinet all the time and I only ever need about 2 cups of cooked rice at any given time.

I use my 3qt instant pot for rice. We make about 2-3 cups uncooked at a time. Plus it’s got the sauté function, so you can make fancier rice dishes all in one pot.

Target has an Oster one for under $25 that has a pan that would sit on top of the simmering rice to steam veggies and maybe warm leftovers like a slice of roast chicken as it cooks the rice. Truth be told I would get the steamer pan kind if it was for one of my kids for a one step meal, a person could fill the thing with rinsed rice and fill the basket with some veggies and a slice of protein like a chunk of store bought roast chicken or tofu and leave in the fridge in the morning. When they get home from work plug it in, put it together and add broth or water and it would be ready to eat by the time you get out of the shower or finish changing clothes. Toss a potato in the microwave or some black beans in the microwave for a few min and it is an easy feast.

I also use an Instant Pot/ pressure cooker. For long grain white rice it’s just 1 min on high pressure then wait 10min to release.

My stepfather is Hawaiian and eats rice with every meal. He’s always used a cheapy Aroma rice cooker. Seriously, it has one function and one button and makes perfect rice every time. I have had two Aroma cookers in my adulthood and the only reason I replaced the first one was that it was easier to get a new one rather than a new inner pot. It has four buttons and a timer but still pretty basic. I guess what I’m saying is it doesn’t have to be fancy to make a good pot of rice.

I have an Instant Pot and rice was a big fail for me. Plus as mentioned it’s quite big to be pulling out just to make rice. Mine also has a stainless liner so harder to clean. Instant Pots are great tools but it’s not what I’d buy if it’s only job was rice.
