Recommendation for travel insurance?

SeaSpray--I'm not sure. What I would do is to call the insurance carrier before you purchase the insurance to inquire for your particular circumstances. They are so picky about things sometimes that the best way is to question, question, question before you buy.

I can't answer for Doctor P, but maybe he is thinking that IF something should happen and it is diabetes realted, then he would be covered.

Good Luck!

Since this is a new diagnosis and we are still in the exploration stage as to where I am at, it's just a rather safe than sorry move on my part. Given how things are going, I don't expect to miss a beat on the cruise, and I know lots of diabetics go on cruises and have no different experiences than other cruisers. Just taking advantage of not having to worry about something happening (an unlikely occurrence) and then having it not be covered because it was related (or they came it to be related) to a preexisting condition. I was going to buy the insurance anyway, so I thought I might as well get it now. Not really in anyway psyched out or overwhelmed by the diabetes--it is just something that I will learn to live happily and well with over time.

Also, the preexisting clause relates to the medical condition of the insured, so your mom's condition/disease shouldn't be a factor. Ask to be safe, but I wouldn't worry since that is not what the clause is intended to protect against.

Thanks, DoctorP, for explaining that to me. You're right, since you're going to buy it anyway, why not buy it now so you won't even have to worry about it or give it a second thought. We booked 2 weeks ago, so we definitely missed the boat, so to speak, on buying it within the 7-10 days of booking, to include pre-existing conditions. And thanks for explaining about the medical condition aspect of the coverage, concerning my mom. I will ask though, just so I know beforehand, just in case.

Thanks again!
