My mom raved about her first taste of creme brulee while we were at Disney, and had it for dessert every possible chance she got. She brought it up again at Thanksgiving, so I'm thinking of buying her a torch and ramekins for Christmas so she can make her own. I'm finding good and bad reviews, so I was wondering if anyone here had a recommendation?

Not something I make myself but you can do the browning under the grill(broiler) with care

I have a butane torch made by Dean Jacobs. I got it at a gourmet food store. I love it. The torch is very easy to fill with the butane you get for cig lighters. One important feature to look for is a continuous flame feature. Mine has both on/off and cont. flame, very important if you have a lot of flaming to do.
Great gift idea.
