hey my favorite people!

Can you guys recommend me a Disneyland dining experience for characters?

I'm thinking Goofys kitchen but I love me some princess too!

What are some experiences you guys have who have you seen?

Do any character meals come wth world or color seating?

You might have more luck on the Disneyland forum.

We were quite disappointed with Goofy's Kitchen in March. Food just wasn't very good. Service was fantastic though. Characters were typical: Goofy's, Chip and Dale, Pluto and Minnie.

I would consider Storyteller's breakfast at the Grand Californian (bears! An unusual list of characters) or the Surf's Up breakfast at Paradise Pier (Mickey, Stitch, Daisy, Minnie)

Never eaten at Ariel's. We like to eat at Cove Bar right above it and watch the princessy goings on though. :)

I am so conflicted about Minnie's. We saw 10 random characters there, but the food was very cafeteria-like...think plastic trays and food slopped onto plates via lunch ladies.

No character meals participate in WOC dining package. Ariel's has a dining package for dinner but no characters.

This. I'm always happy to help, but I've never been to Disneyland. Probably the case with quite a few others on this board too. Sorry.

It would be helpful to know if you have kids in your group? I think we have done all of the character meals at Disneyland it would be nice to know who is in your group. Are you looking for better food options or character interactions?

Or if you could let me know what your favorite character meal is at Disney World?

I have been told to definitely do Cinderellas Royal Table. It's supposedly hard to get, but I was able to get a reservation for breakfast.

2 grown men no kiddos yet! I want the most character for my money that makes it unique! The food is secondary as long as it's not horrible like Hollywood and Vile!

Hi, me again to expand on my late night ramblings :) feel free to ignore me, but I like to talk Disneyland.

The most characters for your money is definitely Minnie's at the Plaza. As I said we saw 10 characters. I have misplaced the autograph books temporarily, so I won't remember everyone but we saw: Minnie, Captain Hook, Tigger, Geppetto, Rafiki, Max (Goofy's son), Fairy Godmother. Just a delightfully random explosion of characters. Like I said, food is a drawback.

My second choice for uniqueness of characters and a gorgeous setting is Storyteller's. We have seen some rare characters there in addition to Chip and Dale who are always there including Koda and Kenai from brother Bear, Meeko from Pocahontas, B'rer Bear. Food is really good, standard breakfast buffet stuff but the best of the lot.

Yelp has lots of good reviews.

Love having dinner at Goofy's Kitchen. I find it similar to Chef Mickey's in WDW. The food is good, especially the chocolate caramel tarts, I way or may not have eaten a whole plate of these:rolleyes1 The character interaction is great. Also, if you get the PP+ The photo package is included.

Every DLR character meal except Storytellers has a photo package included with PP+.

I would suggest the Minnie and Friends breakfast, and do it pre-park opening. I haven't done that one, but I have heard very good things about the character interaction. Otherwise, I would suggest Storytellers. We have done that one, and it was really good, and unique characters.

That's not at DLR.

Minnie's has a ton of characters, so that one is pretty good for breakfast. The only one with princesses is Ariel's. Goofy's is decent but only has about 5 characters.

In the Parks:

Minnie & Friends: Probably the most unique mixture of characters. We saw Piglet, Pooh, Hook, Fairy Godmother and many others. And the character interaction was very good here. They were playful and paid equal attention to teens and adults. The restaurant is on the end of Main Street in Disneyland and is probably closest to Crystal Palace. This is a breakfast buffet, eggs waffles, bacon, etc. Although I preferred breakfast at Minnies. Also, it is one of the lower priced meals. For theses reasons this is one of favorites.

Aeriel's Grotto: Being the only princess meal can be very crowded. It is located in DCA. Prior to it being a character meal it was originally a higher end (I forget name) but it has lovely glass light fixtures. This is not as grand of an experience as CRT it is closer to the Epcot one. If I were to rank them I would put CRT first (although pricey) Ariels second, and the Epcot one third. Upon coming down the stairs you meet Ariel. Similar set up to CRT where you meet Cinderella first. During the meal 4 of her friends will come around. However, the interaction is minimal. Pose for a picture and they are gone. There is also outdoor seating at this location. We have had breakfast and lunch here both were fine. This meal is served in courses and we have noticed your experience here relies heavily on your server. If you have someone who brings the food hot and refills beverages it can be a pleasant meal. However, if food is brought slowly and warm you might feel as though it is greatly overpriced.

At the Hotels:
Goofy's Kitchen: Located in the Disneyland Hotel this is a buffet. I would say pretty close to Chef Mickey. You used to see several rare and different characters here. They changed this recently and now I think it is Goofy and 4 friends. This was the reason I was asking if there was kids in your group. When our kids where younger this location was actually too much for them. There was no clear rotation of the characters so every time you would start to eat a character would come, then 2 more just after, then they had the kids bang pots and pans in a little parade. My kids actually left here hungry. I think the price is not justified for this meal.

Chip n Dale critter breakfast: Located in the Grand Californian this is a character buffet breakfast. This one is supposed to have the best breakfast. There is an omelet bar. However, we were there off season and the chefs could not keep up with the lines so food temperature would be off by the time you went back to the table. The character were of a woodland theme in keeping with the hotel. Chip, Dale, Meeko. They did come to our table with kids. Although I saw several adult table who never got a visit. Honestly, this is more of an upscale breakfast with a few random characters than a character meal. The location is very similar to the Wilderness Lodge.

Surfs Up!: At the Paradise Pier Hotel. This is a buffet breakfast. As this is not a very large location the character interaction was fun. It did not seem as chaotic as Goofys. I think there was also an omelet bar at this restaurant. Since it is a smaller location food temperature was still hot. For cost and character interaction this was probably our favorite Hotel character meal.

Honestly, for character variety and interaction I think Minnie's wins.

we have only done Surfs up and Minnies, we liked both and plan to do them again. If I had to chose just 1 though I would choose surfs up. The food was mediocre but the interaction was great. Stitch came and hung out with our kids many times, the kids get to learn to surf with mickey and dance with daisy. It was so much fun we almost forgot to eat! We are doing 4 meals on our next trip, goofys, surfs up, minnies, and ariels. Hopefully they are all great!

I was not impressed with the Surf's Up food when we went in May. We had gone in 2012 and it was much better. It was lacking salt mostly. I should probably add, I never salt anything, so it's not like I'm a crazy salt person :D It was reaaaaaally bland.

Goofy's Kitchen used to be the best in the whole company for diversity...Goofy and friends, Snow White, Belle, Baloo, Pooh, etc. Pretty much it was whoever was getting ready to start a shift. You might see 10 characters over your time there...at least 5 would make it to your table. I agree it's not the same anymore.

Princesses at Ariel Grotto is a great meal...maybe the best food I've ever had at the character meal and they do a great job of dealing making you feel like a single reservation despite that fact it was actually a group sitting.

We have no kids in our group and really like Storytellers. We've always seen plenty of characters here (Chip, Dale, Meeko, Koda, Kenai, Brer Bear, Rafiki, etc). The food is really the best buffet quality at DL.
