I need a book that gives some history of the development of WDW, that might include info on the infrastructure and the building techniques for the various hotels etc. More nuts and bolts rather than art. Is there such a book?

DH says he is not going back unless I can get him interested in the history of the place. Will do, I say.

Just a thought - in case you haven't already - you might want to post this on the Theme Park and Community boards.....I know you will get tons of info there too. :goodvibes

Thanks for the links. I will print off some stuff and leave it out for night time reading.

Grover, I was looking at the epcot book you mentioned, and I found that although it was well written and the pics were great, it left off just as the info was getting interesting.

I have always been afraid, in that polite Canadian way, of the Community board...maybe i'll try theme parks.

I've got the MK field guide, and found that it doesn't provide much history...

I've read a lot of books on Disney, but can't really remember any that were too specific about WDW history...

Lots of stuff online though, you can even find some documentaries at http://www.dc-torrents.com/

There was a book that came out around the 25th anniversary all about the first 25 years of Disney. It had quite a bit of infromation ect. Im not sure if its still in print but Im pretty sure it was called Walt Disney world- the first 25 years.

I have that book and it is GREAT :cool1: Lots of pictures showing the building of the parks, interviews with Walt himself and ideas of what might come. We all like to just pull it out sometmes and glance thru it. It is good for folks who have been many times and want to learn a bit more about certain resorts or terrific for newbies to help decide everything from where to stay to which park you might like. You might wanna track it down since I think this might be just what you are looking for :thumbsup2

I have both of these!

I read the MK Field guide, it was great.

I also read Walt's Bio which was good as well but does not go into much about WDW since he died before completion.

"Keys to the Kingdom" and "Disney Wars". Both of these books were very interesting but concerned more with Michael E and the aftermath of the death of Frank Wells, Jefferey Katzenburg, Michael Ovitz and the Save Disney movement etc.

Been looking for the Field Guide to EPCOT.

Walt's bio was the best of all of these.
