recognizing your stroller

I bought a new Maclaren coral pink stroller with black handles. How do you decorate or recognize your stroller in the mass of strollers with black handles?

I read on some thread someone wrapped something around the handles but I don't remember what. PLUS, how can I write underneath it in case someone steals it? Permanent marker or engraving? What should I write?

TIA.

You could tie a brighly colored ribbon around each handle. Or you could buy a balloon on your first day and just leave it attached to your stroller for the length of the trip.

I'm trying to think of the same for my trip in Sept.
I have a Maclaren Sport Quest. I'm thinking of using a piece of duct tape and putting it someplace on the bottom where it can't bee seen and write our name on that in permanent marker.

As far as an identifying mark - I was thinking of looking ofr a big brightly colored luggage tag to hang from the handle or maybe putting a big sticker on the back pocket. you can also try putting strips of painters blue tape down the side bars - one good thing abut that is is comes off easily with no sticky residue.

not to be negative, but whats writing your name under it going to do? if you loose it do you plan to stop people and turn their strollers over:confused3 ?

i always go to jo anne fabrics or some place like that and find the loudest most annoying piece of fabric. i buy a long, not wide, piece and just wrap it all along the handles. its easy to spot, as long as the cm's dont move it, lol.

I've read a couple of posts on these boards of people who have had their strollers "taken" and then noticed someone else with them. When they confronted the people who "took" their stroller they denied taking it and claimed it was theirs. The person even noticed they were eating the pack of cookies they left in the basket! Without any identifying name on the stroller there's no way you can prove it's yours all call security to point it out.

Of course put a ribbon or something so you can easily notice your stroller in a crowd, but unless it's glued on anyone can take off the ribbon or balloon and say it's theirs. But if you put your name someplace no one notices at least you can prove it's your stroller if some purposely or accidentally takes it and you see them. It couldn't hurt, and might help.

We put masking tape underneath it with our last name in permanent marker. We also tied a scarf / fabric around one of the handles so we could find it. Have never had a problem thus far, knock on wood!

Our Maclaren is tan and believe it or not, not too many have that color. :)

I made a big lime green mickey head and wrote on it "Lucie's Magical Carriage" and then laminated it and tied it on the stroller - found it everytime.

I put an address label on the bottom of our stroller and then I took packing tape and wound it around the tube of the stroller over the label so that someone could not easily remove it.

Hi! I sell Discovery Toys and I put our boomering links. those are the little likns that you can hook toys to a stroller or car seat so the baby can't keep dropping them. We don't have babies but we use the Disney double stroller and we link those all over so it will be easier to find. WE can also hook things onto it and actually makes a good selling point for me too :rotfl:

I wrote our last name in permanent maker on the metal frame. I also used brightly colored bandannas tied to each handle toe easily identify our stroller in the sea of strollers. DH thought I was nuts when he saw me tying on bandannas. He was singing a different tune while in Fantasyland on our first morning.;)

yeah i still dont get this. if someone came to me and said that my stroller looked like theirs and can they look under my stroller for their name tag, seriously id tell you to go punt. how many people do you think would let you look under it? do you think the person who took it would?

i do like the idea of marking it with the mickey head, that seems reaosnable.

We have found that more important than recognizing our stroller (plain grey Peg) is remembering in which area we parked it! Last trip we parked it somewhere in Fantasyland while we did all the rides there (some more than once) and when we were ready to go, couldn't remember at all where we had parked it.

I agree that you have to get your name on there somewhere permanently but tying something bright to a handle will help you pick it out of the sea of strollers in stroller parking (even if it won't prevent theft).

I created a sign in photoshop that had our last name in large print, our cell phone number under our name in case the stroller was "lost", and some disney pictures to decorate it up a bit. I laminated the sign and we attached it to the stroller using zip ties. It made it very obvious that it was our stroller so no one would accidentally take it, and it also made it very easy to spot amoung the sea of strollers. We didn't have any problems with it being taken....and it wasn't permanent. ;)

Not to get into a debate or anything - chances are all our strollers will be fine.

But if I went up to someone and said I think you accidentally took my stroller by mistake and I asked nicely if I can just check to see if my name was there and they adamently refused it would make me a bit suspicious. If someone confronted me I would let them check for their name. And if I truly thought it was my stroller I could at least go to security if I knew my name was somewhere.

If it was a $30-$40 stroller I may not be as concerned, but it cost over $200 and I think it's worth protecting. And why am I taking a $200 to Disney? Because the $30-$40 strollers weren't as comfortable for my son or as light and easy to manipulate on and off buses.

We have a red stroller for ds. I took green and yellow ribbon and knotted strips of each onto the stroller handles. I also put a luggage tag with name, number, and address on the frame under the seat, where it could not be seen, so if taken I could claim it as ours.

From what I've read from other threads on here and from CM's, most cases of missing strollers are simply people mistaking one that looks like theirs for theirs. It's not done on purpose. Those that have had their strollers taken usually find another one like it in the lot. I think as long as you make your decorations obvious you should have no problems. I also think most people would be understanding and let you take a peek if you walked up to them and told them you thought you had switched strollers. I know I would.

That's a very unique idea. I like that idea. NO one could see that.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Now I just need to get busy finding ribbon or tape.

I admit in the 8 times we have been to WDW a stroller of ours was never stolen but I never had a "nice" stroller and then with talk on here of it being stolen made me sad. We have left cameras, camcorders, and souvenirs in the stroller and nothing was ever touched. You never know.
