Recognizing DIS'ers @ the Parks???

I put two together, well my DD did it for me, she treated them like sticker, punched a gromet into the top. I tied one to my fanny pack, one to the stroller and one on my carry all bag. No DIS'ers seemed to notice, and I dod not see any in the parks. I did see a family across the street wearing Lime Green tee's from DIsneyonline, but did not want to yell across the street in case they had bought them becasue they were on sale.

We bought them for my family to wear in January, so I hope that we meet someone from the DIS then. My DH is used to me talking to "strangers" so the only obstacle I will have is convincing him to wear the shirt :rotfl: .

We both plan on having paint chips on our camera or shoulder bags plus our campsite will have a paint chip wind chime of some sort out in front of the popup.

I'm from Canada too.
Anyway, it's not complicated. :teacher: Put them in a bowl with some water, walk away, do something check on them, if they don't slide off readily, leave them for a few more minutes. After you take them off, they may curl a little as they dry, but they will be ok. They will be green on both sides, so they are reversable. I then write my name on them, although it really isn't necessary. I mean, who else is going to be walking around with paint chips hanging from their bags, necks, hair, strollers, etc but us dissers? :rotfl: Anyway, after they dry, I write my name on them, laminate them with packing tape :goodvibes punch a hole at the top, and trim the tape from around the edges. Voila! hang them, and then spend a half hour explaining to your traveling companions why you have green paint chips hanging on your camera, wallet, tote bags, etc. :disrocks: :thumbsup2

Thank you! Thank you!
I plan to work on them tonight now. I have held off doing anything with them until I hopefully heard from you. Great news!
I will have them hanging on my backpack and camera strap with lime green ribbon. I will also hang a couple in my AS Music window. I will also tie one to each suitcase.

What do you mean together? Do you put them back to back? I had planned to do that until I just read Pampam's post. She said that they are green on back too. Did you put them together a different way? I will work on mine tonight so I would like to hear your idea.
Thanks!

Thankyou, getting ideas as this is my first trip with these lime mickeys. I have a few questions hope you don't mind:

What do you mean my packing tape? Here in the UK our packing tape is a non-transparent brown. I would be grateful if someone could describe this for me, so I can see if I know of an alternative.

How sturdy are the lime mickeys once they no longer have the card backing? I did try cutting the card round the mickey shape and then sticking two of them back to back. I found it very sturdy as it resulted in two mickeys and two bits of card stuck together.

Has any one tried attaching it to a badge? I have a spare, normal badge (with Thomas Tank engine on it) and thought about attaching one of the lime mickeys to that somehow. Does anyone have any ideas?

We will be at WDW the same time as a lot of other people on this thread :bounce: :cheer2: . I'm so excited as it is and this lime mickey is such a great idea I'm sure it would back the holiday even better if I met someone. Please, please be bold and say hello to me if you spot my lime mickey, I would be so excited to meet anyone especially as I am from the UK and you guys are in a different continent to me! I keep telling myself to be bold if I spot anyone, not normally very good at speaking to strangers, and my family will probably disown me

Hi guys, thought you might like to see the following thread if you haven't already. Seems there are a lot of folks who'd like to meet other DIS'ers.

And off topic, but to those who used the word "f-ggy" on this thread, I respectfully ask that you go back and edit your posts. First and formost, the use of that word does not follow DIS guidelines. Second, as a gay man, I find the use incredibly offensive and was pretty shocked to see it get through the word filters.

Thanks in advance.

As the poster who use the word in question - I do sincerely apologize to all that might have been offended. The term was solely to reflect the following:

While my DH loves WDW, he does not see what the attraction to the DISBoards is. Hence the wearing Lime green to identify myself as a DISer he does not quite get. Now, he is a great, fun loving guy and did tote around the backpack adorned with the Lime green bandana for 9 days, and would have gladly chatted with any fellow Diser that approached. He just feels that perhaps I should be doing something more constructive with my time  So in turn he teases me that it's "not-cool". That was my sole intention of the term and it was not meant in any other way.

I Love the The DIS community for many reasons. It is my hope that when you see my DIS ID tag on future posts - you will greet it with no ill will. As I meant no ill will toward others with my last post, just used poor judgement. :disrocks:

No ill will! I was pretty confident I knew how you meant it and you just proved what I thought. Thanks for changing it!

Now back to the regularly scheduled program...

I bought a fast past lanyard last year at AK. It has a small plastic pouch at the end of it just big enough to hold a park ticket. I took two lgmh paint chips trimmed the edges a little, and placed them back to back in the small pouch.
Hope it works this time. When I went in Feb. last year I didn't meet any other DISers. :confused3

I have had the lime green Mickey heads attached to my ds's stroller since he was an infant and was never approached.

This last trip I was approached while we were eating breakfast and I didn't even have my stroller with me. The reason I was approached as a DIS'er was because of my signature picture (new one now) and I guess I just have that face that stands out and is recognizable ( :confused3 ; :teeth: )

After we came home I was writing in a thread and had another DIS'er ask if it was me at a certain location and time, and yes it was! Again this was based on my signature picture. :teeth:

So as much as I had advertised my lime green Mickey heads through the past few years, it has been the recent attachment (beginning of 06) of my signature picture that people have noticed me as a DIS'er.

Maybe I'll run into someone else between 12/7-12/10 while we are down for a quick jaunt / early Christmas gift to our kids!

Hope to see someone soon!

If any of you see me, please say hi! I'll be the Pooh size lady with the FANTASTIC DIS shirt, mickey heads hooked to my DIS lanyard and lime green bandanas.

Ok, I might not wear the shirt everyday. :thumbsup2

What I did was cut around the mickey head, then left the card stock between the ears. I then glued two MHs back to back, punched a hole in the card stock when dry, and added my user name on one side and "DISboards" on the other. I had it on my backpack purse the whole trip.

I met a DISser on the bus (Oceana) when she saw my LGMH. The second person I met was at the pool at POP; MickeeFan(?) had Mickey tattoos, and she and I had struck up a conversation with some folks from the UK, so I asked her if she got onto any Disney-related forums...

My DH had rolled his eyes when I originally put the LGMH on my purse, but between meeting other DISers and meeting some TGM followers, he quickly realized that there were more of "us" there than him... ;) It certainly helps to be chatty when searching for DISers, though. :) I have no problems with striking up a conversation with folks in any line.

at MK in line for Peter Pan I actually saw a fellow DISSER in line behind me.
I did say hello, thinking we would strike up a conversation about- well about anything. But she acted as if I were a stalker. She said 'hi' and just turned around like she didn't want to be bothered. :confused3

If you don't want to be approached, don't wear the LGMH. I was really put off and stopped looking for others.

I'll try it again when I go in Nov/Dec.
Maybe I'll see you in the World--- :wave2:

I see in your sig that you will be in AS Music. I will be there too. We leave early Saturday morning. (BTW, I can't figure out why the ticker says one day. I put September 23 for departure date, but it is saying one day left. Really we have 1 1/2 .......oh well) I will be there 9/23-9/30. Maybe we will be on the bus together.

I tried my hardest on my last trip in August to either "spot" or "be spotted" and neither happened. My dh of course thought I was nuts with my LGMH's laminated and attached to my Baggellini and thought for sure we would meet up with some type of cult group on our vacation!! LOL!! Oh well, there is always our cruise in November!! LOL!!

Ive been driving around the NW suburbs of Chicago with one on my car back window for a few months now- not even a toot of a horn in recognition, oh well!

oh Laura, that's sad! Did she know you were from DIS?

To me, it seems more and more people here at DIS are making plans to spot one another so it might be easier for you on your next trip!! :thumbsup2

My DD cut the Mickey Heads out, put superglue between the two and stuck them together. She used a hole puncher to make a hole in the top, banged a gromet to keep it from ripping, and then tied a string thru the grommet. It was very sturdy.

I'm sorry that I did not get back to you sooner, I needed to make sure I had the directions right, so I asked my DD.
