Recliners in Resort Rooms?

Are there any resorts that have recliners standard in their rooms? Or can one make a request for a recliner? I have a friend who can only sleep in a recliner due to some reasons, and we are wondering if he can be accommodated when he goes. Or are there places that you can rent them from? Nothing fancy, he just needs to sleep in a regular recliner.

I don't believe any of the regular WDW resort rooms have a recliner; I can't say about any of the DVC rooms or suites. But a recliner can be rented from offsite -- I believe Care Medical (http://www.caremedicalequipment.com/) rents them and possibly other vendors. WDW will work with the guest to remove any furniture that may be necessary to make it fit.

Enjoy your vacation!

Just to confirm, the DVC properties don't have recliners. They have sofa beds and chair beds, but that's it.

Those Chair Beds sleep a lot like a recliner would??.. as best i can remember..

No, I'm afraid not. They open out just like a sofa bed so there's no stage where the back goes into a recline and a leg rest comes up. It's either a chair or it's a bed.

No they sleep a lot like beds. Op dose your friend need to sleep with his head way up if so he can use a lot plow or cender blocks or both to get the head of the bed up

It seems a lot more reasonable to try to locate a recliner to rent, rather than bringing multiple cinder blocks into a hotel room.

You just need 2 my grandmother needed to have her bed up due to medical problems

Be innovative... housekeeping will bring you as many pillows as you like. Use them to prop up your friend to a comfortable position. I've personally been doing this for years and it works quite nicely.

Cinder blocks aren't feasible in a hotel room where you don't own but may ultimately be responsible for furniture - bed frame - damaged/dented/bent/etc by unauthorized, even temporary, alterations. It doesn't even matter that one's grandmother did not experience said damage. It was her bed frame to adjust as she wished.

I am just saying what my grandmother did and she travels a lot before she died. But like I said pillows work too I was just giving option of things I know people have used in the past is all I am doing the op dose not have to use any thing I suggested

gap, none of those options work for certain issues, like my father who sleeps in his recliner at home. his bed has not been slept in in over a decade. the OP needs to rent a reclining sleep chair off site and have it delivered. they will remove the standard bed if there is not enough room for both. too many pillows is actually not safe at all, for anyone. and does NOT provide the necessary support some people require.

I was giving option and like I said they were option you have your option and that is fine what works for one may or may not work for another and that is fine but and this will be the last time I say this I was going the op an option I know worked for others I am sorry you are having a hard time with someone else having an option even if it may not help the op it could help someone else.

But the OP didn't ask for options. The person in question needs to sleep in a certain position - not just with the head or feet raised.

Mrsjvb is right about multiple pillows too - but for general information (not altering a hotel's keeping co editions temporarily) footsmart.com has two wedge pillows that can be used together to create a recliner-like situation.

Just agreeing with Toffywoffy, katieeldr and Mrsjvb
The chair beds open similar to the sofa bed and provide a flat sleeping surface.
The back of the chair stays in place as it was when it was being used as a chair, but it would stay at a 90 degree angle (more or less) to the bed surface, not a reclined position and probably too straight for most people to sleep.
You could get pillows from Housekeeping, but pillows are likely to be too soft to hold someone in position if they are used to sleeping in a recliner.

As lanejudy posted, you can rent one. The rental company can work with Housekeeping to remove a chair if needed to make room for a recliner.

Exactly.

Many people sleep in a recliner due to CHF. If that is the case, pillows will not work. If they fall, at all, the person will feel like they are underwater. They will wake up gasping for breath.

And if the pillows don't fall, that many pillows can cover the face of the person sleeping. If they have any disability, they may not be able to move enough to be able to breathe.

we rented an electric lift recliner for my mother. It was delivered directly to our room at Contemporary. It worked out very well for her.

I've never seen a recliner in a Disney resort.
