So, I think this could be considered a "Budget" thing as I'm trying to make a few batches of goodies with things I have in my pantry. Does anyone know of any quick and easy Christmas treat recipes using the kind of caramel apple dip that comes in a tub? Like Marzetti's, only mine is from Aldi. Do you know if caramel dip will set up or harden? I really don't want to have to go in a store or do a whole grocery pick-up order to get just a couple of things.

Visions of the bakery cases at WDW come to mind. All the fun colorful covered pretzel options, etc. I have pretzels, hershey kisses, Rice Krispies, Sprinkles, M&M's, cake, brownie and muffin mixes.

I've never made, but have eaten, Rice Krispie bars with caramel and they are wonderful! The recipe calls for actual caramels. Would the dip work?

Thanks, in advance!

Have you Googled recipes using the name brand dip? You might get some good ideas that way. I would guess that the dip won't harden the same as caramels because it is made to stay dippable. But it might work well swirled into brownies and cake squares (and be pretty, too!). Maybe look for some recipes for caramel swirl brownies and get creative from there? You could decorate the top with the M&Ms and sprinkles, too.

You could make Apple Crisp and drizzle it throughout. Or Caramel popcorn balls?

I would drizzle it on top of brownies. Maybe add some chopped pecans and call it a day. And call it Turtle Brownies. I would add the items prior to cooking, so they bake into the brownies.

Or, you could melt it and drizzle it on ice cream, with or without a cookie/brownie base, for sundaes.

Great--now I want caramel.

Thank you for the suggestions! I think you are right that it won't set up. Guess we'll have to settle for drizzling and dipping! Brownies, cake, ice cream, , apple crisp ... oh , my! They ALL sound delicious!!

Oh, now that sounds good too! Thanks!

I had thoughts of making up a bunch of stuff for the next few days .... and then a co-worker gave us a HUGE plate of all kinds of goodies today! Actually more than we will eat, so some may go in the freezer. I will still make one or two things, but now the pressure is off! It was a wonderful surprise!

I took the easy way out and ordered boxes of chocolates to give this year - co-workers, neighbors, etc. It's not exactly original or exciting, but with the virus and all, it's definitely more hygenic. Kind of boring, but who doesn't like a Whitman's Sampler box of chocolates, right?

It's tough this year, for sure. Normally we would bake treats, but like you, not so sure how they'd be received. So, we gave out those caramel dipped/coated apples that you can buy.

We did get a huge, home-baked cookie in a pizza box from the family of one of DD17's friends. They're huge bakers and we are occasional recipients of their leftovers. Believe me, I want to keep on these people's good side--they make some delicious stuff!

It definitely won't set up hard. I'd use it for brownies or blondies. You can top cinnamon rolls with it as well or add it to the marshmallow for rice krispies treats. Another idea is to sandwich it between thin cookies like pizelles.

It looks like the caramel apple dip will have to wait until another time, though all of these are great suggestions! DH's co-worker gave us a plate of goodies today, so we have enough sweets.

We've received (and given) far more gifts than usual this year. I need to make sure to keep my list so we remember all of this next year too. Good chance we will do chocolates again, but will order them much earlier to get enough.

As hard as the year has been and continues to be, we have gotten to know our neighbors, the newspaper delivery person, the USPS carriers, UPS guy and FedEx guy so much better! We aren't quite in Mayberry, but we are on first-name basis with so many more people! Reminds me of when I was growing up ... except then, the moms got together for coffee while the kids played outside. Now we just text each other and our kids are grown and flown. Can't wait to be able to gather and have a block party! Hopefully next summer! It can't come SOON enough!
