I have a fairly small side by side fridge and freezer and my freezer is packed right now. I need to clean it out and I am hoping that you all might help me figure out the best way to use up some of the stuff in there. Here is my inventory:

  • 6 Roll out pie crusts (no, I have no idea why I have so many in there!:confused3)
  • 1 chicken breast
  • 3/4 of a bag of frozen tropical fruit
  • 30 pieces of frozen bread (we tend to throw the last few slices from the loaf in there if we don't think we will use it up before it goes bad. I do pull some out to make meatloaf about once a month)
  • 8pk hamburg rolls (see above)
  • 10pk hotdog rolls (see above)
  • Eggo Nutrigrain waffles - 2 boxes (I used to eat these for breakfast but I haven't really wanted them lately)
  • 1 box Earths Best mini waffles - DS eats these daily. Maybe I can convince him to eat mine too!
  • 7 pancakes - I put these into DS's lunch
  • box of mini ice cream sandwiches (I think we will have NO problem using these up :thumbsup2)
  • 1/2 box of fish sticks
  • tub of orange sherbert
  • 1 boneless chicken thigh
  • 2 bags of ravioli (each 3/4 gone )
  • 3 bags of whole bean coffee
  • 1 can of pink lemonade
  • 6 plain bagels
  • 6 cinnamon raisin bagels
  • 1 lb sandwich steak
  • 1 bag steamfresh cauliflower
  • handful of basil leaves
  • 1/2 bag of peas
  • 4 bananas
  • 1 steamfresh single of baby brussel sprouts
  • 1 box chopped spinach
  • 1 bag edamame
  • pear, mango and apricot purees (baby food)
  • 9 mini apple muffins (made these last Sunday)
  • handful of thyme
  • 1 box Kashi sweet and sour chicken meal
  • 1 bag sugar snap stir fry mix
  • 1 bag stew veggies
  • 1 bag of ice
  • 1 bag of bread crumbs

I'm hoping you all might have some recipe ideas for me. Banana bread? Muffins with the purees? Any ideas?

Also, how long would you keep some of this stuff in there?
Thanks!

Use chicken breast, thigh, stew veggies, peas and pie crust to make chicken pot pie.

I don't have the recipe, but a friend of mine recently made GREAT chicken empanadas with the roll up pie crust.

Thanks. These both sound excellent! I will hunt the web for some good recipes.

I did find a spice cake/muffin recipe for the baby food so we will see how that goes. Also, a really interesting recipe for frosting using the pink lemonade concentrate. I'm going to take the Kashi meal to work this week and plan to send pancakes and apple muffins with the kids.

Use the chicken and pie crusts for chicken with dumplings. Add the veggies with it also. Makes me hungry. :lmao: gonna check my freezer for this week!:cool1:

I would use the bread for either croutons and or homemade stuffing:

For the stuffing, I take 1/2 stick of margarine and sweat onions and celery. Break the bread into pieces. Add sweated veggies to the bread, poultry seasoning, and add chicken broth until moist. Bake 350 for approximately an hour.

For the croutons, I like this recipe:

Ingredients
1 (1 pound) loaf day old French bread (you can use your rolls)
2 tablespoons garlic powder
2 tablespoons dried basil
1/2 cup vegetable oil or EVOO
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Cut bread into small cubes and place onto a shallow baking pan or cookie sheet.
Drizzle oil over the bread to lightly cover and sprinkle with garlic powder and basil.
Bake at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for 5 to 10 minutes or until lightly brown and toasted.

Here's my banana bread recipe, I would substitute puree fruits for the sour cream:

4 banana
1 stick margarine
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/3 cup sour cream (use the puree here, with flavor that would highlight the banana

I just dump everything into the bowl and mix, bake 350 for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean.

Put all the sweets and muffins out, invite over some of the stressed mom's (school just started) and serve with tea, coffee, or apple cider.

What's funny is that this IS what we had for dinner tonight but I bought chicken for it (I don't use pie crust for mine though). When I realized later that I had chicken in the freezer I figured out that I needed to be a bit more organized.

You can make ice cream sandwiches out of these. Just pop them in the toaster and fill with your favorite ice cream. One of my favorite childhood deserts. Of course, you will need room on the freezer for the ice cream!

Use the rolled pizza dough and chopped steak with a few extras you have to make strombolli. "freeze the left overs" :lmao:

I would just ditch the half boxes if they were not in freezer bags or airtight bags.
THe hot dog and hamburg rolls likely are too freezer long to be tasty.

Take a lot of the things you can make a cassarol, soup or entree then freeze it again for a meal on the go.

You did give me motivation to empty my deep freeze, inventory and use up or ditch the long froze and forgotten items.

good luck
di
