Recharging my videocamera?

Does anybody know why this happens? Here is my issue:

Almost every year when we go to WDW, I videotape so much that I run the battery life down to zero (actually, I wear down the battery because I often forget to turn the camera off when I put it back in the camera bag, so that I end up taping an hour of the inside of the bag, but that's an issue for another time).

I bring a charger along with me, but when I try to recharge the battery by plugging the charger into the hotel room outlet, nothing happens. I can leave it plugged in overnight and I'll still have no battery life in the morning. This has happened at two different hotels (AKL and YC) and in multiple outlets in various hotel rooms. Once, I got so desperate, I took the charger with me when I went to do some laundry and tried to recharge the battery in the laundry room, but still no luck.

I know I could solve this problem by bringing an extra battery or two, but does anyone know why my charger (which works fine at home) won't work when plugged into a WDW hotel room outlet?

My first thought would be you where using a plug that had a wall switch that controlled it, other than that ????????

As to the recharging thing, I agree you probably plugged it into a switched outlet (for a lamp). As to the parks, take the charger along. When you sit down for lunch, sit near a wall outlet and plug your charger in for a few minutes of charge time!

Do you have a discharge process to go through first? Could it be that? We've stayed at the ASMo and I was able to charge my camera okay. Good luck I know how frustrating that must've been!

Thanks for the input and suggestions. I'll try those ideas on our next trip.

I've never had a problem charging. I do have two batteries, and always charge one while I'm using the other. My charger has lights on it that indicates when it is charging. If yours has this, make sure it is lit when you believe you are charging. If you've had no problem charging at home, this sounds like a case of the dreaded "user error". :( DOH!!!!!!!!!!!
