Just upgraded to a Kodak Easy Share Digital and so far the pics arfe GREAT. They eat up AA batteries. We've never used the rechargeable batteries, but are thinking about it for our Nov trip to WDW.

Any idea how long rechargeable batteries stayed "charged" for digital camera use??

Thanks!
Cindy

It really depends on the camera. Some cameras have a powersave mode that conserves power, some turn off after 15 minutes of inactivity, how much of the flash are you using, etc.

My camera takes 2 AA batteries, so what I do is take 2 spare ones, and have 4 running in the recharger. That way, I'll always have fresh batteries and a spare if I need to change.

However, the batteries have lasted 1 1/2 days before, but I always just change them each night.

We just bought this camera on Sunday - it came with the camera/printer dock. We also bought the extra travel battery charger that came with 1 rechargable battery. To be on the safe side - I even purchased another rechargable battery - cost $14.99. I wanted to be SURE I had enough. Figured this way I had one charged battery IN the camera and carry another charged battery "in case". Then - plug them both in to recharge overnight.

According to the instructions - a good charge is suppose to last for about 100 pix - but it depends on how you take the pix. It also suggested using the viewfinder (vs. the LED screen) - which uses less battery life. Also - everytime you preview on the LED screen it eats it up.

Do you have the camera/printer dock? I have used regular batteries before in my old digital camera - and seemed like it drained the life out of them so quickly.

And so far - we LOVE the quality of the pix - and the printer dock is sooo cool - instant gratification.

I recently got an Olympus digital camera. I'm using NiMH rechargeables and so far it seems like I can shoot about 50 pictures on a pair of batteries. It will depend on a lot of factors, though, like how much you use the flash, how much you use the zoom, how long you leave the monitor on when not actively using the camera, etc. Personally, I've got 8 batteries, so 4 sets. That's enough for about 200 photos before having to recharge. I'd never take that many pictures in a day anyway, so I can just recharge a set at nite and be ready to go the next day.

I have a kodak DX 6340 and it uses 2 AA batteries. The only way to go is rechargable. Much cheaper to buy the rechargable on line then at the store. Here is a clip of a message I sent someone else on batteries (my apologies for the formating):

As far as batteries go, look at the NiMH and NOT NiCD. They should also have a mAH rating ranging from 1000-2400 mAH. The higher the number, the longer the battery will last between charges. I would get atleast some in the 1500-2000 mAH range. The power charging units also vary a lot. Look and see how long it takes to charge the batteries. Some of the rapid charges are about 2-4 hours, while the cheaper ones will take 12-16 hours.
I would also get at least 4 batteries, so you can always keep on set in your camera. If you don't keep batteries in the camera, you'll have to reset the clock/date which is a pain. I bought my batteries from http://www.batteryspace.com/ and got a much better deal than at the store (i.e. Bestbuy, etc.) For example, here is a good deal, http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=293, 8 AA batteries with charger for under $20 (and they are 2250 mAH batteries).

Last, I always carry a spare set of non-rechargables, just in case.

Good luck.

One other point - If you are shopping for a digital camera, I would recommend getting one that takes regular batteries, AA for example. Many cameras today, especially the really tiny ones, take proprietary batteries that are quite expensive and not always easy to find. If you are on vacation and lose or damage one of those, you could be out of luck. If I lose my AA rechargeables, I can just pick up a pack of regular alkaline batteries to use.

I purchased the Rayovac 15-Min. charger from Sams Club. Which came with a car adaptor. And it only takes 15 min to recharge the batteries. And with the car adapter you can be charging the batteries on the way to or from someplace.

You will get the best full charge if you completely drain them before charging. :) So if its getting low run the filmstrip on repeate in the evening on way back to hotel so the are good and dead.

This is true of older rechargeables. The newer ones, like the NiMH batteries, do not have a "memory" effect. You can charge them anytime without reducing their life or charge.

Skip the rechargeable batteries and use Lithium!!!!! They last forever, well worth the cost IMO. I just bought another pack of 4 at Target for $9.50.

We also have a Kodak digital camera and used the rechargeable ones that came with it-boy did they lose their charge fast! Then we started using the rechargeable Energizer ones...They also ended up being a pain. Now we use the Lithium and it's WONDERFUL!!!!! ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

I have never had a problem with my Rayovac Rechargeable Batteries keeping a charge. I love it.
I have a Cannon A70 which takes 4 AA Batteries. I love the fact that I can just pop them in the charger and in 15 min. I have fresh strong batteries.

We've had an Olympus digital camera for 7 months now, and we bought 4 rechargable NiMH batteries with it. I took about a hundred pictures and about 5 or 6 fifteen-second videos yesterday, and the batteries were low but didn't run out on me. As a matter of fact, I filled up my card before they had the chance to run out. (sigh)

If I'm careful about when I use the viewscreen, I get perfectly satisfactory use out of my rechargable batteries. I've found that regular batteries are gone VERY quickly, I'd say before I'm able to take 20 pictures, and forget using the viewscreen.
