rechargable batteries and charger

I like to use rechargable batteries for amny things, like DD's lepaster and other games, and for on of my cameras, etc.
I have gone through 3 chargers over the last 6 years. The last one I bought was in March of 2009 and it was a duracell 15 minute charger. It was GREAT, for a year, and now it doesn't charge very fast and alot of batteries do not seemed charged after it's done.

Anyone have any suggestions on a good charger that will last longer than a year, but doesn't take 24 hours to charge either. I will need a new one for our next trip, which means it has to charge fairly fast, at least in a couple of hours. Faster would be better, but not if it ruins the batteries. Also are any rechargable batteries better than others?

I have had my Powerex MH-C204w charger for almost 3 years now. I use the batteries in my camera and scuba dive lights. (AA batteries)

Great! Will it take different brand batteries? I have some enegerziers, ravac, Sony's and Durecells.

We've had the energizer charger for about 3 years now and it's still going strong. Any brand can go in it, and if you put a non-rechargeable in by mistake the lights blink at you. It takes AA and AAA.
It seems to take about 3 hours to charge a battery, so I don't know if that's quick enough for you. My energizer brand batteries keep their charge much longer than the store-brand ones (meijer) but the meijer batteries charge a bit quicker.

Model number is CHDC7. We bought it in a combo pack with batteries at Sams Club.
