Reception time too late?

Here's my dilemma: we're hoping to have our reception in the American Pavilion but we've been advised that the earliest reception can begin about 9:30. We do plan on a cocktail hour with plenty of food in Italy during illuminations. Do you think dinner will be too late? I'm so confused! All feedback is appreciated.

If you've got loads of food during an illuminations cocktail hour and you don't have loads and loads of kids at your reception I don't think 930 is too late. But you are the one who knows your guests! Here in NY some events start that late for sure.

Thanks Andeesings. I guess it is what it is. Hopefully they'll have a great time.

It's Disney, fireworks, and the American Adventure Rotunda!!!! That's my favorite location for sure.... And honestly how can you NOT have a great time with a fireworks cocktail hour??? They'll LOVE it. What time is your ceremony maybe people can sneak in a quick bite afterwards if they're hungry?

We're planning only a dessert reception (if they allow it) for my daughter's wedding since her wedding won't even be until like 9:30 or 10:00 at night. We're just going to tell guests that dinner is on their own. We may have some hors devours (sp?) though if we have a minimum for food expenditure.

not sure of timing if you are having wedding/cocktail hour(illuminations)/dinner (at or after 930pm). so right from illuminations to dinner/reception? my only thought is that people will be hungry during and up through illuminations and/or then not be hungry for a dinner after desert after 930?
